I feel bad giving a one star review because there were a few really nice people there who seemed to really care for my mother during her 17 day stay in the covid rehab unit. However, One star is all they get because the bad far outweighed the little bit of good that we experienced.

First of all, in 17 days, I NEVER ONCE was able to speak to a doctor. Only ONE TIME did a nurse called me unsolicited. The day AFTER her call, I got a note in my mailbox (postal) that said she would be calling me on that day. Seriously - how about text or email?? Thank God I answered for my appointment I didn't know I had!
No facetime with my mother...
When I did call, it took 5-6 calls, voice mail boxes that were always full to the DON, being transferred around, hung up on...it was awful. When I inquired about my mother I got "she is fine". No vitals, no specifics, nothing. Why, because they were not nurses or doctors. It was a joke.

I get that this is the worst job in the country, but it has been almost a year and you should have it together by now, have a system. The other Avante's have it together. Yes, I know because many other clients from my mother's assisted living facility were transferred to other Avante facilities and doctors communicated with families, nurses called DAILY, they Facetimed. We had to have the Sheriff's office to a well check facetime for us! OMG
About Covid testing...First I was told she had a test done and I would get results on Thursday, then "No, not til she's been here for 10 days".
Then..."I don't know, I only work the weekends". Then, "No, we don't do those cause she'll be positive for months". Then, "we test every Mon and Thurs, let me get you her results". Oops..."Sorry, she wasn't tested". OMG OMG.
Finally, after saying she was asymptomatic and I said I was coming to get her - now she has pneumonia and can't leave! Really? I went and got her anyway. She was wearing no bra, they lost her glasses, she was wearing clothes that were not hers, and they had a bag of clothes they gave to me that was full of men's socks and underwear and various other garments that did not belong to my mother.
I sat in the car for over an hour while they tried to "find" or "print" the discharge papers. I told them the day before that I was driving 200 miles to get my mother, and called them when I was 2 hours away to remind them. I left without signing anything. Idiots.

Pitiful...Shameful experience. I didn't go inside the building, but if it looks anything like the outside (left side) - dirty, gross, ewe...NEVER AGAIN. Clean it up already.

To describe it in one word: HELL! It wasn't until right before my grandmother passed away (while still a patient there), that I realized what she had gone through. My grandmother had already been through Open Heart Surgery and was stuck on a ventilator. My grandmother couldn't speak up for herself so when she would write to us that she was being abused, we didn't know if it was the medicines she had been under or if this was true. The nurses all denied this mistreatment. It wasn't until I spent the entire day at this horrible place that I started to see what she was meaning. My grandmother had a terrible stool infection; one that made her septic. With this infection, she needed to be changed out immediately throughout the day. This didn't happen. It took me begging and even tracking down the nurses to finally get someone 3 HOURS LATER to change my grandmother. And that was only because I was there. I went and visited her on Christmas. I brought my two younger sisters to see her, but it was not a good visit. My grandmother had been medicated to the point where should could not keep consciousness. Turns out the nurses didn't want to continue to deal with her so they overmedicated her. She ended up at JFK Hospital because her heart rate dropped below 40 (normal is 60-70 for my grandmother). A couple weeks later, back in hell, my grandmother woke up to a nurse crushing up a pink pill. My grandmother mouthed to the nurse that she didn't have any PINK medications. The nurse left the room and never returned back. If my grandmother had been asleep during this, she would haven received medications that she was never supposed to receive. Then, during my grandmother's last week, she was rushed to JFK hospital because of an infection. She ended up having Pneumonia and another stool infection. My mother had to bathe her when she was first transported in to JFK. My grandmother was not changed before the transport and the infection, since she was septic, made her skin red and irritable. Almost like a burn. My grandmother passed away because, we believe, she had respiratory failure due to the Pneumonia. However, there is a chance that she being septic could have played a role in this as well. The death certificate will prove if the stool infection had anything to do with it, or should I say, if AVANTE of LAKE WORTH had anything to do with her passing!

If I have any regrets, it is that I wasn't able to help my grandmother get out of that HORRIFYING place. IF I COULD RATE THIS WITH ZERO STARS, I WOULD!!!!!

P.S. The Director Of Nursing hid ALL of this information from the Administrator. None of these complaints (written and verbal) were brought to the Head Administrator's attention. They were simply IGNORED. And now, my grandmother has passed away and their mistakes with be carried on to the next patient. Don't let that be your family.

They have some of the best customer service I have ever seen. Putting their customers first is definitely a priority here and it shows. If you're looking for a dependable and trustworthy nursing home, look no further. I would recommend them to anyone I know. They were ready to see me when I showed up for my appointment. I never had to wait for them to show up.
