It's easy to be the best in the area when you're the only game in town.

I had a stay in this rehab facility after a stroke. From basic humanity through to the administration of medical care the hospital side of the experience couldn't have been worse. I was very high functioning, but wasn't even consulted regarding changes to my treatment/medication from what the specialists at the hospital had determined to the choices their generalist doctor made for me upon my admission (with no more data than taking my pulse - I kid you not). I had three CVAs and they didn't even have me on a cardiac diet (they give me bacon for heavens sake). Administrators did little to modify the situation. Meds came at incorrect intervals (and sometimes not at all as they couldn't find my pills). I even heard a patient fall in the next room - a sound I never want to hear again as long as I live.

The rehab side of the house, however, was excellent. From physical therapy, occupational therapy, to cognitive therapy I pretty much got what I needed. They dropped the ball repeatedly on documentation for my STD and LTD claims which caused me a lot of undue stress, but they therapists themselves were professional, empathetic, and effective.
