I was at The Oaks (Spanish Oaks) from 1975-80. Had I not been there, I would've been dead. I learned alot about myself, my family, how to cope. I learned how to be a responsible adult. At 64, I still carry what I learned. I made some cherished friends, had healthy relationships, and repaired my relationships with my parents. I even transitioned to the halfway house by my own decision. I'm sorry to see the negativity associated with them, but that was NOT my experience.

I was at the Oaks from 1978-1980. It saved my life. I learned how to be a functioning teen. I was good, and bad depending on how everyone on the dorm was doing. I am now 61 years old, married, 2 grown children. I thank the Oaks.

Staying at The Oaks was better than what I was going through at home. I had a psychotic break in 1980 and stayed at The Oaks from 12/8/1980 to 12/8/1982. I was on Live Oaks dorm, I think. I'd love to hear from anyone who overlapped with me. --Candy Candace@mcgriffy.como

This is a horrible place. This is a place for the upper class parents to dump there teens so they don't have to deal with the responsibilities of being a parent/gaurdian. I was there 3 times. While I was there I my ankle was broken and I was denied medical attention for a month. My father died while I was there. I wasn't aloud to go to his funeral and when I tried to talk to any of the staff members, nurses and doctors I was locked in a cement room and told "you just want attention". My parents paid $15,000 a month after insurance. I was also given ridiculously large amounts of medications 3 to 4 times a day. I was basically a human guinea pig for the doctors to medicate and abuse.
