I had a total ankle replacement performed by Dr. Vargo.
After months of treatment for "supposed infection", it was discovered by another surgeon that Dr. Vargo had cut the artery and damaged the tendons etc. resulting in constant tripping, falling and tremendous pain.
I was determined to find a Dr. who could repair the damage and went to see most of the surgeons in Hampton rds. including Duke University and HSS in NYC.
They all wanted to re-fuse my ankle because the damage done by Dr. Vargo was too extensive (I have all the documentation to prove this).
Dr. Hopson was the ONLY one that offered me hope. He took on my difficult case and repaired all the damage.
I am now walking, biking, dancing, and finally enjoying my life free of pain!! I also lost over 100lbs.. He is simply the absolute best in his profession and I as one of his most challenging patients am the proof that there is No One Better!

As a surgeon he is ok; as showing human compassion I give him a 0. He talks very fast as if he is in a rush.
Seems like he rushes thru the appointments and his assessments are inaccurate. Likes to tell you if you want a second opinion you are welcome to do so.

Dr. Hopson is great, I am very thankful he was able to pinpoint my issue. I am finally pain free after a bad accident almost a decade ago.

Dr Hopson fused my ankle an did a terribe job. He put a rod in my leg and ankle. He put the rod at 80degrees instead of 90. Now my heal will not touch the ground. After going back many times he could not figure out what was wrong. I had to have special shoes made and still have a difficult time walking. I now have a knee problem. I went to a new doctor and I have to get my ankle re-fused before they can fix my knee.

Dr. Hopson is fantastic, a very skilled surgeon who did a complicated revision on me from another not so skilled surgeon in the area. I wish I would have gone to see Dr. Hopson first and am thankful I listened to neighbors and friends that recommended him.

This was my first visit to this doctor, Matthew Hopson with TPMG Orthopedics. A recommendation made by my internist for whom I have a great deal of respect. I felt very rushed through the exam with him which took maybe all of 15 minutes. I am a 69 year old women who is in good health and accustomed to professional medical care. I believe I recognize talent. In this case I think he doesn't hold much store in dealing with simple health issues like a plantar fasciitis. What makes me feel most uncomfortable beside the fast in-and-out treatment is a prescription of MethyIPREDNISolone that he did not discuss with me. I tried asking about what medication he was prescribing and my concern whether he was aware of meds I am already taking. On his way out the door his back to me he said the computer program would automatically determine any problem. I would have discussed this medication ... my very sensitive reaction to strong drugs ... a desire to know his exact diagnosis ... and choices of treatment other than prednisone. If he had mentioned prednisone I would have immediately wanted to discuss alternatives. Maybe to him this is a simple problem. He prescribed therapy which I will complete. I had researched shoes and showed him pictures of tennis shoes recommended for plantar fasciitis asking him to selected what he felt would be the best choice. He did select one out of several. His haste through my exam with him as well as the prescription he chose without discussion has made me feel uneasy about his attention to my care which of course I deem very important. I felt I needed to share my experience here so others can make good choices for themselves when selecting a physician for their care.

The bad reviews are right. Rushed me to surgery I believe due to the holiday and needing the extra income. Failed to diagnose properly which has cost me in being able to walk.

He botched up my care so bad, I was unable to get testing done properly after the fact. He is not experienced enough but has learned one thing from medical school and that is how not to listen to your patient

Some people just are not smart enough to be doctors
