Because this doctor had never heard of my problem (sleep paralysis), his natural conclusion was that I was crazy! Rather than looking into the issue, asking questions, consulting medical books, whatever, he just wrote me off and argued with me. I am lucky I convinced him to write me a referral to a specialist, or I'd have completely wasted my time. He wanted to send me to a psychiatrist with my sleep disorder rather than a sleep specialist. He then told me that sleep doctors ONLY deal with sleep apnea, and that mine was a mental issue. I convinced him to write me a referral to both a sleep specialist and a psychiatrist, and called both as soon as I got out to the parking lot. The sleep specialist said it was absolutely the right place to start. The psychiatrist said they would recommend seeing a sleep specialist, without me having mentioned my other referral. This doctor was stubborn, argumentative, and insulting. I would never recommend seeing him to anyone. He also mispronounced a word, lol. I don't know how this person got into medical school.
I didn't experience any unnecessary pain during my visit, and I was amazed at how much better I felt after I left. They do such a great job of never overbooking appointments, even though they are extremely popular. I know for a fact that they have lots of business, but I've never had to wait a long time in a crowded waiting room like other places I've been too. I am always so impressed with how quickly my calls are answered here. I am never put on hold for a long time and love knowing that if I have a quick question I won't have to wait a half hour through terrible music to get it answered. One of the first things I noticed about this business was the level of detail and attention to make the building handicap-accessible. Even the bathrooms were designed to be accessible with doors wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs and grab bars in the stalls. You could tell they really made an effort to accommodate people with all different needs.
This doctor placed me on the wrong medication with the wrong diagnosis and ignored my symptoms. The Hillcrest network is terrible and is not the next face in compasion but the next face in malpractice.
