I have had 4 visits with this doctor - for tests and consultations. EVERY single time I had a 2+ hours waiting time. It didn't matter if I was scheduled for the morning or afternoon. I happened to notice when I was signing in this last time that 3 other people had the same appointment time as me. How can the doctor see 4 people at the same time? The answer is that he can't and they just don't give a damn about YOUR time. They expect you to just sit there, wait and take it without complaint. Well, that might have been the norm 20 years ago, but times have changed and people do not have to put up with this disrespect and arrogance. If you can't see me at 3:30 then don't schedule me for 3:30 pm. They intentionally overbook trying to squeeze as much revenue as possible out of each hour.

For such long waiting times, you'd think that at least the doctor would make some effort to make the wait as comfortable as possible. On the contrary, the waiting room is hot and stuffy (though quite large and constantly full). I was sweating while I waited. There is no TV, music, or any other form of entertainment. Not even a magazine to read. It just shows how little they care for the patient - they don't care if you wait and they don't care if you are comfortable while you are waiting.

And to top it all off, the staff is very unprofessional and discourteous. They do not acknowledge you when you walk in and they seem to think that whatever they are doing is MORE important than YOU, the patient. There is no (zero) level of customer service, and they don't really seem to care. It's as if they are doing YOU the favor by allowing you to see this doctor. How arrogant!

And then, you get to see an unremarkable cardiologist who has not distinguished himself in ay way. He is not published, does not do research, does not teach nor is there anything about him that is beyond "run of the mill".

Do yourself a favor, Laredo, use a different cardiologist, any of them can do what this guy does. If you have a complicated heart problem, you probably wouldn't want this guy to take care of it and would be better off going to a "real" professional cardiologist in San Antonio. This guy is stuck in 1985 with regard to his respect for his patients.

Absolutely not, the office was disgusting

Dr. Cigarroa is very good with patients. He is outgoing and friendly and capable . I like him very much as a doctor. However, most of his office staff up front is not friendly and some are even condescending. The wait to see the doctors runs well over 2 hours from the time of appointment. Once I called in for a refill for my meds and when I went to the pharmacy it turned out the nurse made a mistake and had called in my meds under a different patient name. I could not get my meds on time and had to restart the whole thing. Last time I called to make an appointment they put me on hold and never came back. The phone finally was disconnected. The only excuse available is that it was around 12:30 pm and maybe some of the staff where out for lunch. Better training and supervision of the front office staff would make the visit to Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa's office a much better experience.

I was referred by his brother Carlos Cigarroa for some type of iodine test prior to major surgery scheudled within 3 weeks. I arrived 10 am (fasting) at 2 pm after having taken my blood and placed a cathether on my arm. An office worker comes in and asks for $350.00. I told her my insurance should take care of it. At which time she adviced the medical assistant to stop the procedure until she gets clearance from my insurance. Approximately an hour later after sitting with a cathether on my arm. She comes back and advise it wasn't approved. She said she needed the full $350.00 and I advised I had not come prepared with that kind of money. She replied well if you can't afford then we can't proceed. I asked her why this had not been cleared prior to or during my 4 hour wait. I exclaimed to her that I had been fasting since the night prior and I am on high blood pressure medications. They demonstated no compassion what so ever. When I asked to speak to the office manager and explained the above situation, she wasn't any better. I call my Doctor, Dr. Carlos Cigarroa , Ricardo Cigarroa's brother and he would not speak to me. I spoke to his office manager and I was told he had dropped me because I was rude. I never raised my voice, I may have demonstated my unsatifaction by the questions I posed. Dr. Ricardo never once saw or spoke to me, further he would not accept responsibility for his nurse and office staff's actions. Niether office did, I have been Dr. Carlos Cigarroa's patient without incident and thought I had a good rapport with him and his staff for the past 15 years. His office and his brothers office drop the ball and I get the can weeks prior to major digestive surgery. Hisr staff was not friendly nor compassionate. I feel like my appointment was pointless. None of my questions were answered, nothing was accomplished, and I felt worse when I left. I would never visit these Doctor's. They take advantage of the fact that their father established the first heart center in Laredo. They are good doctors but obviously can NOT adequately supervise the activities of those acting under thier supervision. Joe Reyes 956-265-0107

They always return my phone calls quickly. I always know that I'll get a prompt answer to my question. Their staff is very friendly and professional. I always have the best experience every time I have an appointment here. Although I have not had much to complain about, I have noticed that they strongly adhere to the customer is always right policy and if anything goes wrong make every effort to correct the situation. They have a very good professional reputation. I know that I'm under the care of an expert. They paid close attention to me and all of my questions were answered.
