As a Registered Nurse it is important that I seek medical professionals that are knowledgeable and straight forward, Dr. Melen is both. She does not mince words, while she provides empathy she is not a hand holder. She is able to answer my questions and provide all viable options/solutions for a problem. I may not always like the information that she is providing, however, personally not liking the information and the information being professionally sound are two separate issues. She expects her clients to be up front and honest, to ask complete questions, and to personally hold themselves accountable in part for their health care needs.

Dr. Melen is straight-forward but makes sure all my questions are answered and that I understand everything. She is pleasant and helpful, and I have had no problems going to her for the past couple years.

I will NEVER come back here. I have never had a ruder, more unprofessional doctor in my entire 42 years. Dr. Melen was condescending and unfriendly from the start. She actually argued with me about what part of the state I was from(?????) She was very rough during the exam, and when I expressed discomfort, she yelled at me to 'stop fighting' her. All-around horrible experience. I can't believe there aren't more complaints about her lack of bedside manner and bullying ways.
The staff wasn't particularly friendly, either. When I arrived for my appointment, I went to the receptionist's window and stood for a full five minutes while she ignored me. Finally I took a seat, and after a half-hour, while she called at least three other patients who had arrived after me, I went back and tapped on her window. She sighed heavily and yanked it open. I told her my appointment was supposed to have been 30 minutes earlier. She snapped, "you have to let me know you're here!"

I would think that, as a new patient to this practice, they would have made SOME attempt to be a little friendlier or professional towards me. I actually left in tears that day, and have never returned. I also tell everyone I know to steer clear of this particular doctor. Horrible, horrible experience.

If there are any positives, they are few. The waiting room here is spacious. I never feel like I have to sit too close to someone or that it is overcrowded. The equipment was clean, as far as I could tell.
