They paid close attention to me and all of my questions were answered. I was very satisfied with my visit. They were helpful and I left feeling encouraged. The office was easy enough to find.

I was able to relax during my appointment with Dr. Alvarez who made sure I was comfortable and at ease. I did not experience any discomfort as a result of treatment. Her prices were pretty high in her private practice, but her treatment was very effective. Not only was she able to provide the effective treatment that I needed, she went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. Dr. Alvarez knows her pharmacology extremely well. I didn't have to wait much after I arrived for my appointment. She was always running pretty much on time.

I did experience a distressing problem with regard to the cost of treatment. After seeing Dr. Alvarez for several months, my health insurance provider (Regence Blue Cross of Oregon) decided that the payments they had been making to Dr. Alvarez were not authorized because I was eligible for Medicare and because their policy in such cases was to pay only after Medicare made payment. Dr. Alvarez did not accept Medicare in her private practice and Regence Blue Cross of Oregon kicked back a billing of over $900.00 to her, which she expected me to take responsibility for.

I think that Regence Blue Cross of Oregon was at fault here, because they should have informed both Dr. Alvarez and myself that my insurance did not cover the treatment that I was receiving after the first appointment, and not more than six months later. However, I do think that Dr. Alvarez, knowing that I was eligible for Medicare, and having had previous experience with Regence Blue Cross of Oregon, should also have informed me at the first appointment that my health insurance would not cover the cost of treatment.

I told Dr. Alvarez that I would reimburse her for the charges that Regence Blue Cross of Oregon had reversed to her, but I have not yet done so. My reason for withholding the payment is that I twice asked Dr. Alvarez to bill me for the charges so that I could bill Medicare myself. Dr. Alvarez sent me copies of her billings to Regence Blue Cross of Oregon, but she has, to this date, never sent me a proper billing indicating that I am expected to pay these charges.
