I have been a patient for 17 years, my husband had been going to him before we were married and I moved here. Even though we no longer live close by, we now live in Vancouver, I would never change primary care doctors for any reason. Dr. Szeto has a vast knowledge and always takes as much time as needed to handle your case and make sure you understand everything, this is why at times he runs late. I would rather wait than have a doctor rush me through like a herd of cattle. The waiting time now usually isn't very long

In 2005, I thought I had a bladder infection and after antibiotics did nothing, Dr. Szeto told me he thought I had Interstitial Cystitis. He referred me out to an urologist, he was right. Most people with IC go through several doctors over a year or more before they are finally diagnosed, he knew right away what it was, saving me from years of discomfort tying to find someone to tell me what it was. I went online and starting reading boards to see what I could find out about IC, and after being active on there for awhile, I noticed that many of the people also have fibromyalgia. I started investigating and realized I had many of the symptoms, I just thought I was developing arthritis as my mother had suffered from it. Dr. Szeto referred me to a rheumatologist and was tested. They check 18 pressure points, you have to have pain in at least 11 of the 18, I was 18 of 18. He listens to what you have to say, he doesn't just brush you off.

Dr. Szeto has me come in every 3 months for blood work because of all of my medical problems and all of the medications I have to take. He has samples and bases his decisions on what he believes will work for you and won't have a conflict with something you are already taking. If the samples aren't working, he will try another one. Once he is happy that they are working, usually verified through exam or blood tests. He will really work with you if you have no insurance, prescribing a generic version or a similar version that is cheaper.

I have IC, Fibromyalgia, high blood pressure and depression (it runs in my family) and which got worse when I had to go on disability and then my husband lost his job when the financial crash happened. I don't take anything I don't need, I have a urologist and other doctors who also prescribe medication. Dr. Szeto keeps up with all of the medications I take, even those he doesn't prescribe all of them, he makes sure that there aren't conflicts and my body is not being overwhelmed by them.

Dr. Szeto is a wonderful doctor, the best one I have ever had. He is thorough and if he thinks you aren't doing what he suggested you do, he will be stern and give you what for, and reminds you why, but he also has a great sense of humor.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. I can't complain about anything at Dr. Szeto's office.
