I joined the Macular Program by paying a $3000 fee up front because my optometrist recommended it to me. Then, I took a blood test and submitted the results to the program. The doctors responded with a program of medications and supplements. I researched these medications on reputable websites like The Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic and found that with my various medical conditions I could not safely take most of them. One of the recommendations was for me to stop taking a medication prescribed by my primary care physician and start taking the program’s supplement. I showed the list of meds and my research to my primary care doctor, who stated that I absolutely could not take the recommended meds and supplements. I contacted Dr. Rozakis and explained that my doctor said I was not a candidate for this program, and asked if I could get my initial fee refunded because I am trying to survive on Social Security. Dr. Rozakis’s reply was that I was still a candidate for the program, which contradicts what my family doctor said. He stated that if I submitted al letter from my doctor, he could adjust the program. If the original program is the one that is optimal for me, what will “adjusting” the program do for its efficiency? So, who am I to believe, my doctor whom I have been seeing for the last 20 years, or a doctor who I don’t know and who wants to sell me his supplements? I have to go with my primary care doctor. I just think it would have been better if the blood test results could have been reviewed before I lost $3000.00. I also don’t think it’s right that after filling out a comprehensive medical history and medication list, the program recommends medications and supplements that are deemed by medical experts to be contraindicated for my conditions.
This is not a commentary on the effectiveness of the Macular Program. It might be a great program, but it shouldn’t cost $3000 just to find out if I can participate.

They didn't pressure me to buy anything I didn't need, which I really appreciated. I've been to other places that pressured me to buy stuff and it always made me very uneasy. I was very satisfied with my visit. They were helpful and I left feeling encouraged. They answered my questions and spent a lot of time with me. I didn't feel like they were trying to rush my appointment at all.
