Dr. Pickens always takes the time to talk to you, explain every procedure and answer all of your questions. He is very thorough and seems to be a compassionate physician. Everything I would want in a doctor.

I was so very impressed with Dr. Pickens diagnostic skills. My quality of life had been suffering from numerous bouts of tonsillitis and multiple prescriptions for antibiotics to no avail.
Dr. Pickens suggested that I have a tonsillectomy.
He realized how concerned and might I add,
"frightened" I was to undergo this type of surgery at the age of 73.
He carefully went over the procedure and immediately put me at ease.
Needless to say it is a painful surgery, but in the hands of this fine surgeon I have managed to progress to the healing stages.
His friendly staff have called me numerous times to check on my progression.
I am so grateful for the fine care that Dr. Pickens and his staff have provided me with.

I drove to this ENT from out of state because the office personnel assured me that I would not be charged for a first-time visit. I met with Dr. Pickens for no more than ten minutes, and his unfriendly, detached demeanor was the least of the issues. Everything he said contradicted other doctors' diagnoses; he even denied that I had the very symptoms that brought me to his office in the first place. On the way out of the office, I asked the woman at the desk again verify there would be no charges, and she confirmed and said I was "good to go". I decided against using Dr. Pickens because other doctors disagreed with his diagnosis; instead, I went to an ENT in Greenville, South Carolina, who has since successfully solved my problems.
About a month later, I received a bill in the mail from Mountain Regional ENT for a few hundred dollars. I called immediately and was told to call on Monday; when I called Monday, they told me to call back the next week. Finally, the following week I reached a woman who told meI was talking to another office when they told me there would be no charges. Clearly, this is not the case because the appointment would have been schedule with that office. Furthermore, I had clarified again in the Mountain Regional ENT office. The woman also said that if I would have been quoted an amount, it would have been about $100-$200, which is less than half of the the bill I received. Additionally, my online insurance claims states that I was billed for surgery, which is preposterous and could not possibly have happened in a ten-minute consultation. When I started to ask questions about whom to contact to file a complaint and for her to repeat her full name, she hung up on me. I then called my insurance company, and they told me to file a complaint with the NC State Medical Board. I've filed complaints in several places now and can only hope I will be refunded.
I would strongly discourage anyone from using this doctor. I feel cheated and wronged and can only hope that other heed my warning so they don't fall prey to the same ploys.

When I arrived for my appointment the friendly staff seemed to be waiting for me. I've been to other places where I had to wait forever after I arrived for my appointment, but not here. I was very impressed. I didn't wait long at all. My appointment started on time, and the wait was much shorter than other offices I have been to. They went out of their way to make me feel special and respected, and were very sympathetic to my situation. Dr. Pickens had a freindly manner and seemed concerned and sympathetic while talking to me. The staff was very professional and friendly. I felt like I was in good hands!
