In March of 1991, I had a massive heart attack and was taken by the rescue squad to the VA Medical Center, Salisbury, NC. Dr. David Hike not only saved my life by administering what was at that time an experimental clot buster, but Dr. Hike sat at the foot of my bed all night doing paper work and making sure that I survived. I remained in the critical care unit for two days and then was moved to a room. Dr Hike continued to keep a regular watch on me. Dr Hike continued to oversee my follow up appointments for several years when he was transferred to be an Internist. It is now 24 years later and I feel I owe my life to Dr. Hike and will never forget him. Thank you Dr. Hike, for giving me so many more years.
