Be careful at his office. He never washes his hands, has dogs runniing about. He is very good at humor however. I had a persistant case of sinisitus. Upon rx'ing antibiotics the infectioin did not go away. My face is as of now swollen and he refuses to make note of it for other providers who may be of help. He left me with no solution or treatment program to alieviate persistant head pain for many months. I remain ill. When I asked him to provide me with observations of the swollen face etc. he refused and kicked me from his practice. He is not an honorable man. He over billed medicare 17 times for a component of a hand injury as well and also billed them 17 times for me showing up at his practice with a swollen face and no treatment program suggwested or administered. I said to him one day I never see you wash your hands. I said what do you do keep spresding it around so they come back, he laughed and said yeah. My suggestion is to go to hudson headwaters. His office staff is mostly pleasent. His nursing staff submits no notes other than bp and temp. Asking what is wrong you tell them and they probvide no nursing notes. I;m contacting medicare about his over billing but on his behalf I must say that he did credit my account for the 17 visits. Never gave the money back to medicare I'm sure. It is dr's like this that burden the system with repeat visits.

Dr. Merrihew is one of the only doctors that has actually listened to my symptoms, looked through my file, recommended a specialist, and in all actuality saved my life. He has researched medications that would help my condition and had me stable for over two years. I relocated and went to a different practice at Ellis Hospital. Those people are a joke. It's all about money for them, never examined me, and made me feel like I was faking. I was diagnosed over 10 years ago. Although it will be hard to see Dr. Merrihew, I will find the time to see him as soon as possible for the actual bedside manner and compassion he has for each of his patients. The wait in the office is long, but because he spends time with his patients. He listens.
