OFFICE PROTOCOL :Cardiovascular Evaluations for Pediatric and Fetal Congenital Heart Disease involves Complex Echocardiographic Imaging that requires significant skills & operator experience,with much concentration and focus,often in active Fetuses and infants or children.Unnecesssary interruptions interfere with this significantly and affects the quality and outcome of the evaluation.For this reason, families needing Fetal or Pediatric Cardiac Evaluations are advised by the Office Staff ,while making and before the actual appointment,to avoid bringing along any additional young children who are not patients of this office or not being evaluated , and who will be unable to be by themselves for the period of Cardiac Studies,unless an accompanying spouse/family member or friend can be there to watch them.The office has had to institute this request as situations arise where a Fetal or Pediatric study has been disrupted by an accompanying child who becomes unpredictably fussy or unruly. In situations where a parent chooses to ignore this request, likely from a perception that an examining Cardiologist may or should be able to perform complex testing with multiple active children in the Procedure room,and not be disturbed or make errors, the protocol in that case is to readvise them of this requirement, and to reschedule that visit in a timely fashion.Unfortunately, in the event a Parent cannot comply with this, they are free to seek Cardiac Consultation services at any other facility of their choosing.The office staff can not and will not be expected to be subject to, nor will they tolerate rude or uncivil behaviour in any case.

We were so fortunate to have seen Dr Fernandes when our OB thought something was wrong with our unborn baby's heart. Dr F saw us that same afternoon, and found out exactly what was wrong, and planned what was needed to be fixed, and set me up to deliver in NY at Columbia Childrens Hospital, where she had Surgery 3 days after birth.My "baby" is now just turned a teenager, she had the arterial switch operation and is so full of life and well , and enjoys soccer and all activities.Dr F is such a good hearted and warm and down to earth person, and as we got to know him, we loved coming to see him even more.At first he seemed so reserved, but we realised he does this to not be emotionally attached ,in order to make the right choices,and thats how he is able to make such accurate diagnosis and proper planning for the best result.We are so grateful to Dr F for his calm and reassuring and so very accurate approach to heart conditions, and each time we see our girl smile and run around, we remember him with gratitude.We have told our friends and neighbours who have needed a Pediatric Cardiologist that they have to see him if they want the best care for their children.

The office was one of the quietest, most organised MD offices I've ever visited. I was completely at ease during my appointment here. They have the schedules work on time. Not only do my appointments never get canceled last minute, they take time out of their day to call me as a reminder so I don't forget. They are extremely reliable. Dr Fernandes himself did the main Echocardiogram, and paid much attention to details, and explained everything to me as he went along, making me very comfortable.I saw one of the earlier reviews comment on the staff not allowing a toddler accompany someone for a heart test--and find that person without common sense!! Gosh, lady, do you,take your toddlers no the Dentist too , and let them hang on and make a scene while he works on you ?!!

I was so fortunate to have Dr Fernandes able to see me the same day after my ultrasound showed a hole in my babys heart at 20 weeks.He got me in the same afternoon, and did a detailed heart echo and made sure all the important things were normal, and made me relax as he felt the small hole was simple and harmless.The doctors that sent me to him told me he was the best in this field, and I fully agree.He did the whole test himself , and was pleasant and caring throughout.It is so fortunate that we have specialists of such high caliber in the area,and knowing that Dr is also connected closely with one of the top childrens cardiac centers in the country, in New York , made me feel so comfortable. I must say that I also have a 2 yr old, a very active child, and I left him with my babysitter for the visit, as I knew it would not be smart to have a child jumping around in the exam room while the doctor is trying to diagnose my baby's heart trouble, which at 20 weeks is size of a fingernail!! BTW, the office had clearly told me not to bring any small children with me to the visit, but I had already no intentions of that. Who would want a doc to miss something because of a terrible 2 , and I cant imagine getting this test with a toddler sitting on the exam table!! I woud strongly reccomend this Specialist to all who need him. And would reccomend they follow the instructions given by the office staff too!!

I really admire them for being more than willing to ask for help from other professionals in the field when they don't have an answer to my question. They aren't even slightly arrogant, and I'm confident they always have my best interest at heart. They are an absolute expert in the field. I would never feel unsafe or apprehensive in their care. I've never seen anyone who is more respected by their staff. The entire staff only had great things to say about working there, and it made me want to return all the more. They would never suggest that I buy something that wasn't necessary, and never pressured me. They were always very considerate and professional. They were friendly to me and my child and made us feel at home.

I visited his office for fetal echos because of my heart condition, I have to get my baby's heart checked when pregnant. I was referred to him by my ob/gyn. His staff is rude and unfriendly and the doctor is very rude, unprofessional and has no bedside manor. He refused to see me because I had my toddler with me during a visit. He refused to talk to me directly instead had his two receptionist tell me everything. It was NOT posted anywhere that children not being seen are not allowed and I was NOT made aware of this at the time of making my appointment. I am an at home mom that is 7 months pregnant, with a heart condition and this pediatric cardiologist denied me service because I had a child with me. I would NOT recommend this doctor to anyone!
