I've been a patient of Dr. Peoples for over 10 years and also a business colleague in the workers' comp field. He is the most humane, considerate, competent, professional and intelligent doctor I have ever met. He is NOT one of those "eager to cut" doctors and always finds the most conservative way of treating back injuries first, whether they are industrial or nonindustrial. He is also the foremost authority on concussions and brings workers back to their full duty status with the patient's safety in mind first andforemost. He is by far the best doctor I've ever known.

My wife has been in a lot of back pain for several years, and after having an MRI with contrast conducted, was told she has a syrinx on her thoracic spine, and that it would need to be surgically removed or she'd start losing sensation in her extremities and eventually would be unable to walk. After researching neurosurgeons on the internet, we asked our primary care physician to refer us to Dr. Peoples, not just because he appeared to be highly credentialed, but also because he had the most positive patient ratings we'd ever seen, especially for honesty with patients, and compassionate care. He certainly lived up to his reputation for honesty and compassion, with us. After reviewing my wife's MRI, he went over it in great detail with us, and told my wife there would be no surgery necessary, and that her back pain was being caused by other issues, which he took time to explain as well as offering helpful advice in dealing with it, including some simple do-it-yourself home therapy. He could just as easily have told us she needed immediate surgery, and we'd have had no reason to disbelieve him based on what we'd previously been told about her MRI results. But honesty and care for his patients appear to be more important to him than the money. My wife and I are both 60 years old now, and have been through the mill with doctors over the past 10 years, so this was certainly a refreshing change. If I ever had to have neurosurgery, I'd certainly trust Dr. Peoples. I know he wouldn't do anything outside of what was actually needed to resolve the situation. He's just that kind of doctor. Too bad there aren't more like him.
