In 2002, I was admitted to St. John's hospital following a car accident in which my small car was t-boned by a van traveling at 60+ miles/hour. If the impact to the car had been even an inch to me I would have died. I was sedated after being rescued from my car and rushed via ambulance to St. Johns hospital in Springfield Missouri. I had just started college and had a lot to live for... During the wreck I sustained a fractured hip joint, a closed head injury and a fractured rib which punctured a lung... While in recovery and sedated, I sat up suddenly awakened from sleep which resulted in the worsening of an internal injury. Dr. Huckfeldt saved my life by administering emergency exploratory surgery which resulted in the removal of my spleen. I am very thankful to him and his team. It is now 10 years later, I have fully recovered and am now expecting a baby. Thanks again Doc!
