If I could give no stars, I would. I am giving one star for the friendly hygienist. This is the worst dental practice I have ever had the misfortune of using. The only person there who was kind was the dental hygienist who took the X-rays. The receptionists are the rudest, most condescending people I have ever encountered. Dr. Mack, who should be exiled from the field of dentistry, is quite simply a horrible, unprofessional, untrustworthy, and incompetent dentist.

Due to being on medical leave from 2 spinal surgeries, my son and I temporarily received Badgercare Health Insurance. Dr. Mack and his receptionists made it very obvious that Badgercare patients were thought of as a very low priority and as more of a bother to them than anything.

Even appointment reminder phone calls were rude! I had changed my phone number, and when I went to my appointment, the receptionist rudely lectured me for over ten minutes on how it was unacceptable that I never called to give them the new number. She said they were going to cancel my appointment, but we're giving me "one more chance."

Each time myself or my son arrived for an appointment, the receptionist made a big production out of calling Badgercare to be sure that we were still eligible and that payment would be made. We were firmly told if the copay wasn't made on the date of service, they would refuse to see us. They also stressed that, when paying the copay, cash was preferred, credit card was accepted, but under no circumstances would they take a check.

The verification calls to Badgercare were even done when other patients were in the waiting room, which was humiliating in itself. The receptionist spoke loudly as she gave our full names, birthdates, member numbers, and kept repeating that we were on "Badgercare government insurance assistance." When she hung up, she said to me, across the waiting room, that "We have to call because Badgercare is good at not paying their bills." I was utterly and completely embarrassed and humiliated beyond belief, and felt as if I was a bad person not worthy of kind or considerate treatment.

After his first visit, my son dreaded ever going back to Dr Mack again. His mouth bled for the entire rest of the day due to the dentist sawing into his guns with the floss and digging into his gums with his cleaning hook. My son even got car sick and vomited on the way home because the amount of blood in his mouth made him nauseous. His mouth and jaw were sore for two days due to Dr Mack's extreme roughness in his examining and cleaning methods. A 7 year old child should not feel like he has been punched several times in the mouth after a basic cleaning/check up by a dentist!

Because we had no choice at the time, I also saw Dr Mack for a cleaning and check up, with the same results my son had. I had chipped a back tooth on an unpopped popcorn seed. Dr Mack did a horrible job filling the tooth, the material he used to fill the tooth seemed as if he had melted soda cans and stuck it to my tooth. When completed, the filling had a sharp point to it, extremely rough edges, and effected the entire way my teeth felt when I bit down. Not to mention extreme sensitivity to cold and hot.

To sum things up, Dr James Mack takes Badgercare patients in order to make a quick buck. People who pay cash and others with better dental insurance don't even consider going to him. He uses the cheapest supplies he can and spends the minimal amount of time with all Badgercare patients. He simply accepts Badgercare because he would go out of business without it.

He and most of his staff don't even bother to pretend that they care about you if you are a Badgercare patient, plain and simple. To put it even more simply, he is a quack and, after the care my son and I received from him, I wouldn't trust him to clean my dogs' teeth...

My daughter has an appointment here tomorrow. I am so glad I went with my gut to do some research. I can't even get over how rude and degrading the receptionist is. My daughter has badgercare and she talked to me like I was a complete waste of time. She even called me back to make sure I would have my copay and when I said " no problem " she paused as if she couldn't believe I would have 15.00. Unreal!

I'm glad to know we are not the only ones who were treated poorly - rushed through. My gums hurt for days afterward as he rushed the cleaning. I intend to report them for their treatment of BadgerCare patients. Their staff was not friendly at all, I didn't feel welcome there. They didn't help me as much as I was hoping and didn't answer all my questions. I would never visit them again. I was very disappointed. I felt very rushed. They barely spent two minutes with me and almost completely ignored me. I had to wait a few weeks to get an appointment but I eventually got in.

Whenever I've gone there, it feels like they care more about money than they do about me. If you have badgercare, they rush you through in less than 15 minutes (including the time for xrays), barely looking at your teeth. basically all they do is clean them and even that is done half heartedly.. I was happy to finally find a dentist that would take badgercare, but if they aren't going to do a full exam for those on badgercare, why bother to say they accept it.
