In April 2012, I visited Dental Associates on Lee Highway in Fairfax and was informed by Dr. Montalto DDS that based on his examination I was in need of a crown and 3 implants. His cost for the total work included Bone replacement graft which would be $9,000. When I agreed, he immediately began to tell me that I needed to pay the total amount up front. I offered to pay 50% at that time and 50% upon completion. After agreeing to this, he informed me that he would not be performing the work himself and that he was going to bring in a specialist instead.
My procedure started in early May 2012, by Dr. Ramai DDS. Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry. At that point I paid the $4,500 which had been agreed upon. By September 20, 2012 the crown and 2 implants were installed and demanded from me another $1,700 which went against the original agreement.
On Sep 27, 2012 had the placement of the third implant. The office manager had call an ambulance to take me to the ER because my left inner ear had been severely damaged by the hammer used for the placement of the implant. I was in ER six hours and after that I was hospitalized because I was unable to regain my balance. After 3 days of a series examinations and a costly hospital stay, I was discharged and instructed to begin treatment with an ENT.
A year later, I regained my health, my balance, and the equilibrium that I had lost and I returned to Dental Associates to correct the mistakes and complete the treatment and found new dentists. However the office manager that had called the ambulance -saving my life- was still there. To this date, she is working with me to correct the errors done in my dental work which were very painful.
So far Dental Associates has already corrected the other 2 implants and crown that were off the bite line, but in a wrong color so that they look false. Getting a matching color is the next step. At a later date, I will provide more details on how these errors are corrected. This includes the third implant that is not correct, it was placed diagonally which could have bad repercussions, so will need to be removed and redone correctly. Also, I still need the bone replacement graft.
