The other reviews here are not a one time problem. I had no issues until I needed actual work done, not just cleaning. They misrepresented how expensive it would be and I ended up paying almost $200 more then expected out of pocket. At worst, they're very good scammers. At best, they're incompetent. Either way, there are so many other dentists in town, don't waste your time or money on this place.

Don't go to this butcher! Went to this office after relocating to Charlottesville. Despite bringing Xrays and reports from my former dentist that noted the condition of a molar, Mark Young told me he had done "thousands" of root canals and insisted I needed one. What followed was a full afternoon of drilling, when I went home I could not close my mouth. Three days later the tooth abcessed and had to be extracted by a different dental office. Young's office billed us for the full root canal, even though the permanent crown was never installed. Evil.

I have been a patient of Dr. Young since fall 2003 and think very highly of him. He's saved more of my teeth than I care to think about. He is very considerate and respectful and will take the time to listen to you. He has definite ideas about how things should be done, but it all stems from a sincere desire to provide the best outcomes he possibly can for his patients. I highly recommend him.

My experience was awful. The dentist told me that I had a lot of cavities--which was completely false. I got a second opinion and thank goodness! DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS DENTIST!!!

I do not trust this dentist and would not recommend him. The staff was nice, but the dentist informed me that I had numerous cavities and a host of other problems. I got a second opinion from a long trusted dentist using the same X-rays and was told that there were no problems. Unless you only intend on getting a cleaning, I would never visit this dentist.

Friendly at first, but the place left a funny feeling with me. The doctor spoke about a procedure I needed and about getting arounfd my insure in the third person, talking to the helper, without really explaining the procedure to me. I wish he had asked if I was ok with it, before talking about whether the insurance would be ok with it too. I was then scheduled for an appointment the following week for the procedure. In the meantime, I received multiple phone calls (including one at 8am!) about coming earlier. When I arrived on the scheduled day I happened to ask how much the crown would cost : it was way more than i could afford. I wish they had given me a little information about fees and payment plans before my treatment. I wish they had gone over it more thoroughly with me.
