I can't speak to Dr. McMurtrie's abilities because I left the office after a terrible experience with the reception personnel. And thank goodness for that. With the awful customer service I experienced, I want no part of the rest of this office. I dealt with Paula(?), Jane and Julie, and they all seemed clueless. When I called to make an appointment, I spoke with Paula, who has a very heavy Hispanic accent and speaks very little English. I speak some Spanish but that did little to help. When I came in for my appointment, I was told that my insurance was out of network and that they had called and left a voicemail message to that effect the previous day. I showed them my call log indicating that I had received no such call. So after they scrambled around for a bit, they changed their story, saying they hadn't actually left a message; rather, they had tried to call but got a busy signal. I asked them what number they had called. After some more rummaging around, they found a small post-it note with a number that Paula had scribbled down when I called to make the appointment. The number was way off from my actual number. Then Paula defiantly said, "Well, that's the number you gave me." Period. No apology for the miscommunication or lack of organization, just an accusation that I misrepresented my own phone number by several digits. It is clear that Paula misheard me or, more likely, did not understand me when I gave her my phone number at the time I made the appointment. I am a professional, and I did not appreciate having to clear my schedule and take the afternoon off for this treatment. Not only that but, I had to take another afternoon off to actually get my teeth cleaned, albeit somewhere else. You can be assured it wasn't in this office, nor will it ever be. Also notable: it appears they do their calendaring with an old-school, handwritten week-at-a-glance schedule (the kind they use at my hole-in-the-wall nail salon). With the technology available today, there has got to be more effective means of doing their intake and keeping their records. It makes me wonder if they are using outdated equipment/technology in the dental practice, as well. I will never know. Save yourself the headache, and look elsewhere for your dental needs. Houston has so many qualified medical professionals; there is no reason to settle for disrespectful, incompetent service.
