Beware!!! If you like to be tortured and exposed to the most terrible bedside manor, go ahead and accept an appointment with Dr. Zide. He boasts of his 30+ years of experience and tells you everything will be fine. To that I must reply, "Get real!"
I went in for surgical extraction of 3 wisdom teeth, one of which was causing severe problems. The surgery went fine, however, Dr. Zide was reluctant to prescribe anything to offset the nausea caused from the pain medication. I thoroughly explained to him that I had taken that particular pain medicine previously but had severe nausea from it. (Imagine vomiting frequently after having three teeth cut from your mouth. You not only have the pain from the surgical extraction, but the pressure and risk of dry sockets and infection from vomiting.) Dr. Zide reluctantly wrote a prescription for Phenergan only after my husband stepped in and insisted on it. The only problem was that the Phenergan was no where near enough to cover the prescribed amount of pain medication.
A week later, I went in for the follow-up and explained the pain and other problems I had been experiencing. The nurse asked, "Why didn't you call?" I replied, "My husband did and you refused to do anything to help." She said she only remembered a single call. My husband called no less than three times over the course of a week!!! Then Dr. Zide walked in demonstrating his arrogance. He told me that he was going to irrigate the sites, which he did, and immediately began shoving packing materials into two of the three extraction sites. Keep in mind that he was more than willing to numb the areas AFTER he was finished packing them. Apparently, his 30+ years of experience didn't cause him to stop and think that he should numb it before shoving stuff in extraction sites with a set of forcepts. I was in absolute agony, he knew it, and simply did not care!!!
Needless to say, I will be seeing another oral surgeon from this point forward. I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Warner at my last follow-up, and am quite pleased with the level of professionalism and compassion he demonstrated. I give an overall review of "3" simply because of Dr. Warner.
