Dr. Dan Thompson in Knoxville put veneers on my upper front teeth a few years ago. Although the appearance of my teeth was improved, Dr. Thompson had drilled away significant amounts of each tooth that was to get a veneer. The veneers are not the "contact lens" thickness advertised. They are very thick. I stayed with Dr. Thompson for a couple of years after that, then went to another dentist for a second opinion about the status of my teeth. Without knowing who was my previous dentist, this new dentist discovered several cavities that were never mentioned by Dr. Thompson or any of his staff even though I'd been getting regular cleanings and check-ups at Dr. Thompson's practice. In addition, the new dentist said that although the veneers which Dr. Thompson put on my top front teeth were securely bonded to the teeth, he would have crowned those teeth, not put veneers on them. The veneers are still holding at this time--five years later--but will eventually have to be replaced with crowns.
