Picture this: a toddler (20 months) old has to see the pediatric dentist because of a fall he took that cracked his front tooth. Mom is nervous about having to take said toddler (at such a young age) to the dentist. Mom calls Dr. Kathleen Mullen's office for an appointment. Gets an appointment for 11am the following day and the receptionist lists it as an emergency. Arrive early. Fills out paper-work (which takes twenty minutes) and is then told to wait, "We'll be with you shortly". 45 minutes later Mom asks if they will be seen soon, (trying to determine how much longer toddler has in the diaper he's wearing since it took an hour to get to the dentist office). Mom is told (rather rudely) "I don't know, we're squeezing you in as it is because of your emergency! You'll just have to wait." Mom is upset with this response but her son NEEDS to see the doc, so she waits, all while wondering why she was given an exact time for an appt, when they were 'squeezing' her in. ONE HOUR later, toddler is screaming because Mommy has run out of things to distract him with. It is now lunch time and toddler is hungry, cheerios aren't cutting it anymore. Mom asks office staff when they will be seen, she is told (very nastily) "I don't know." Mom starts to worry because toddler is now really losing it and Mom wonders if it's such a good idea for her baby to have to go thru a dental exam at this point...since he's already mid-tantrum. She asks, (much more politely than she has been spoken to by the staff) "Can you at least give me a ballpark estimate? Will he be seen within the next hour?" The response? "No I can't give you any info on that, I just don't know" This time, the staff member slammed the window closed in Mom's face. Mom and toddler wait another hour and still nothing...

The final result? We left and now we have to find another dentist. My son's tooth is still cracked. I just couldn't wait any longer. THREE hours and we still weren't seen. In case you're thinking that they were just having a slow day, I was met by another mom as I was leaving who told me "Go to another dentist, this dentist is really bad. They're very rude and always make you wait for HOURS." Unfortunately that Mom didn't have a choice, she had to take her son there because Dr Mullen was the only doctor her insurance allowed her to go to.
If you're thinking of this dentist for you or your child...find another! If the office staff alone is this rude, how good can the dentist be?
