Very unprofessional, very expensive

I had plenty of dental work done by Dr. Kopesky with no problems except one. His misdiagnosis resulted in multiple root canals on one tooth, paying for a crown, then ending up having the tooth pulled, all to find out there was nothing wrong with the tooth. However, nobody is infallible so I continued to have him care for my teeth.
Upon retiring I no longer had dental insurance. After a few years of seeing his rates increase, I researched rates in the area. Hamlin Dental is at the very high end of the range for cleanings, exams and fillings. I spoke to Dr. Kopesky about this and told him that I felt it was in my best interest to switch to a more affordable practice. I thought we parted on good terms.
I hadn't got around to setting up my yearly exam and cleaning with another dentist when one of my crowns came off. As it was a crown Dr. Kopesky had put on, I called his office to see if I could come in and have it put back on. He refused! He had his receptionist tell me that since I told him I was leaving his practice he would no longer except me as a patient. This was the most unprofessional thing I have ever had someone in the medical profession do. I never expected him to be so petty. I wouldn't have had to tell him that I was going to look for a less expensive facility. Had I not done what I thought was the right thing, he would not have been aware I was planning to go somewhere else, and would have reattached my crown.
I called another dentist in the same town, Dr. Scrimalli. He took me in the same day and reattached the crown. It didn't matter to them who my regular dentist was, or who put the crown on, their attitude was, if someone had a problem they would try their best to help them. Needless to say his practice now has a new regular patient, actually two, both my husband and I now go to them.

Friendly, personable office staff and hygienists. Regularly scheduled cleanings went well, on schedule with no cancellations. Fillings used white material which may or may not not be covered by dental insurance. Endodontic therapy was strongly encouraged by dentist and staff to treat decay rather than extraction. Following the endodontic therapy procedure, a secondary infection occurred. Next appointment resulted in a referral to an oral surgeon for treatment and/or extraction.
