I went to Dr. G for years as a teenager (mind you, I'm 25 now). He was nice enough, although as an older teen he would often talk to me as if I were a child. When I moved away from the area for a job, I found a new dentist. I told him I was having some pain in my tooth and here he found that a filling that I had that was done by Dr. G was done incorrectly. Because of the way it was done, the cavity ended up going all the way to the root of my tooth and I had no choice but to get a root canal. Now, I'm having pain in my teeth again only to find out the other fillings he did all have to be redone because they were not done properly. So, if you want to have get all your work redone by someone who knows what they're doing, go to Dr. G first. He'll be sure to make mistakes that will have to be fixed, even if it's years later. Thanks for nothing, Dr. G! I thought the staff was somewhat friendly. They didn't do too much to welcome me, but maybe they were busy. Not only was I not able to watch TV during my dental procedure, I couldn't even read a magazine or look out the window. I was extremely bored the entire time. I had several questions, but they didn't all get answered. I could have definitely used more information. Sometimes the staff appears happy to answer my questions and sometimes I'm not sure they are really focusing on me.

I was having horrible horrible tooth pain that was interfering with my ability to function. With one call to Dr. Gensbigler's office, they agreed to see me that very day. No waiting for an appointment. They seemed to understand the urgency. Also, they were short-staffed that day due to the snow, but still managed to fit me in. Dr. Thomas Gensbigler examined the tooth and determined that I needed a root canal done. He told me that he could do the root canal that day, but that it would take several hours due to the lack of adequate staff. He told me that the other option would be to schedule an appointment within the next week when they were better staffed, and he would prescribe me pain-killer and antibiotics in the meantime. I chose the second option, scheduled an appointment for one week later, and returned home and started taking the medicine prescribed. Unfortunately, I had a horrible reaction to Vicodin, and spent that night and the next morning throwing up non-stop. I was unable to stop taking the Vicodin, however, because the tooth pain was unbearable (I've had appendicitis, horrific migraines, bad recoveries from surgery, and yet nothing has compared to this degree of pain). The next day I was desperate, having to choose between horrific pain and unbearable nausea, and with one call to their office they agreed to get me in for the root canal that same day. As soon as I got to the office, I had barely sat down in my chair in the waiting room before my name was called. They got me right into the room, did a couple more x-rays of the specific tooth, and got started on the procedure almost right away. The root canal did take longer than initially predicted, but that is to be expected considering that I did not have an appointment for that day and there were other patients that the staff had to tend to who did have appointments. We ran into a problem where it was discovered that my insurance wouldn't cover the procedure, and they gave me a very fair price and payment plan that was extremely affordable.
The entire staff was very nice. Throughout my procedure there were two different assistants there who were both very friendly and made me feel comfortable there. I don't really have any complaints.

Dr. Thomas Gensbigler was deceitful in the MISTAKES he did on my teeth and lied to the insurance company. I have documents to validate my statements. He put crowns on too high exposing my gum line. Each visit after that I kept complaining of profusely bleeding gums. He said I wasn't flossing properly. He showed me how to and he did it in a manner that was ridiculous! He barely even touched the gum line. I felt he was being deceptive and PURPOSEFULLY trying not to touch the gum line to cause it to bleed! I've never had issues with flossing in all my life until after he put the crowns in improperly! Next time he gave me Peridex which is mostly prescribed for gum disease when I NEVER had gum bleeding issues. I had been on Biotene which is a top notch QUALITY mouth wash and he CLAIMED he never heard of it. Another dentist found that HARD to BELIEVE! I did some testing and found that I was ONLY bleeding when I flossed next to the new crowns! He then used the excuse that I was probably allergic to the base metal and replaced one. I wasn't allergic to the base metal...he just put the crowns on improperly and he put this one on better. EVERYTIME I went into his office to complain about the bleeding gum issue he kept filing away at the new crowns AND at my natural teeth! This caused my natural teeth to loose enamel and their natural shape and they are SHORTER. By filing/grinding away the top surfaces of the crowns, this JERK compromised the integrity of the crowns! You could see bare metal from where he ground away on ALL of his crowns!!! One of the crowns cracked in half and fell off because they became weakened from being ground down so much. He caused jagged edges between my teeth when he put crowns in and/or filled cavities. He then SCRATCHED up my teeth with his COARSE polishing tools. My teeth that he worked on are all sandy coarse feeling. I then went to 2 other dentists and they validated his work was shoddy as I stated. He "begged" me to come back and he will fix it. This JERK then removed the two bottom crowns ASSuming they were both his mistakes. But the one was a PERFECT PORCELAIN crown done by another dentist years ago and should NOT have been removed. He then LIED and said it was cracked, It wasn't. Gensbigler put 5 crowns in because a medication caused me to grind and crack 7 teeth in while sleeping. I had beautiful healthy teeth prior to the medication and prior to Gensbigler butchering the enamel on my teeth by scratching them up. Food can't be cleaned from the jagged edges he caused between the teeth & they are prone to cavities now! At first he said he wanted to fix it and I trusted him cause he seemed like a good person. I now see him as a lying creep. I went to a specialist and gave Gensbigler the professional report that stated to fix the issues would cost well over $8,000.00 and though he was willing to pay for someone to repair his shoddy work he balked at that cost. I need to have my gumline built up by a specialist and some of the teeth might need root canals. He also never removed the OLD fillings that were on my teeth before putting the crowns on. That is poor quality work. When the dentist that did the evaluation saw that as he had to remove the temporary crown Dr. Tom put on the two he was going to replace he said the filings were leaking and that was a sign of ROT! I have NEVER had any bad experiences with ANY dentists prior to coming to this lying jerks office! He told me he would contact his insurance company and I have not heard from him for several months now. His father Joseph is something else as well. I got put in his room by mistake and came with a letter complaining about the gums bleeding at the crown areas and I felt I had cavities in the areas where my teeth have jagged edges that Dr. Tom caused. Joe looked at the xrays and told me I had NO CAVITIES. Dr. Tom got me out of his dad's side and then went on to fill 1 or 2 cavities! The last time I was there Dr. Joseph Gensbigler's assistance was YELLING at him like he was some imbiciling child! He misplaced something and they were bickering back and forth. The assistant did come in to apologize to me for having heard that. I was pretty much there after hours as Dr. Tom was trying to fix the issue presumably on his own time after hours and not bill the office for his mistakes. One of the staff is more fixated on what's on the TV in the room than on the job she was doing on my teeth. Even after I made them aware of this because she made a mistake THAT SHE TRIED TO COVER UP, the next visit the TV was still on. I asked for it to be turned off. Horrible place. Only reason it got 2 1/2 stars is because I answered insignificant questions which were not SERVICE related. I give the place ZERO STARS and a WARNING TO STAY AWAY! Pa. Is one of the RARE few states that passed a new law requiring a dental patient to get a "Certificate of Merit" to sue a dentist and I can't find a dentist willing to do that!
