My daughter had a root canal done in which the dentist missed a canal. Then he seated the $980.00 crown improperly. Because the crown was not seated correctly there was a gap, this led to food getting in under the crown and then bacteria formed in the tooth. My daughter suffered for many months but they just kept telling us to wait awhile and let the tooth settle down. Since the crown was not seated correctly it put uneven biting pressure on the crown and so the crown eventually cracked! After waiting many patient months I requested that the root canal be redone as she WAS STILL IN PAIN. They told me to GET IT DONE SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! They screwed it up but refused to correct their mistake and told me to take a hike and pay another dentist again! My daughter is mentally handicapped, her income is $700.00 a month! So I went to the police dept. and got a picket permit and picketed his office for 4 hours. When I got home there were 2 phone calls on my machine from, guess who? Dr. Wirick. He offered to have the root canal redone if I would stop picketing his office. I agreed. Dr, Ward did the second root canal & found the canal they missed & found that the crown was cracked. Dr. Christopher Ward did a good job, as always. Dr. Wirck's office is in the process of making her a crown. The dental staff has been curt and difficult but the office staff are nice. I dread having to go back there to finish. I guess they think I'm the wicked witch, but ya know you got to stand up for your child and you must stand up when you know your being cheated. BTW, over 25 people stopped and asked me what happen the day I picketed. 4 of those people pulled off the road or parked their cars and walked up to me just to tell me their Community Dental horror story. They too were told to take a hike! Some people said they even lost teeth because of incompetence.
I’m Dr. Matthew Wirick, the owner of Community Dental Wilmington – Wirick and Associates DDS, and I would like to respond to Margaret’s comments. Patient care and satisfaction are very important to our organization. As a team, we try very hard each day, to serve our patients in the best way possible. I feel badly that Margaret had a bad experience and apologize for that. As with most businesses, we aim for perfection, but sometimes fall short. That being said, I want to share the results of a patient satisfaction survey we conducted in January 2012. Overall, our patients gave us a 4.9 rating on a scale of 1-to-5 and only 7% of our patients gave us negative marks for appointments starting on time. This doesn’t excuse Margaret’s experience. However, I hope people who read this reply will appreciate our dedication to patient service, know that we try to achieve great results every day and will work tirelessly on their behalf, if they provide us with the opportunity to serve them. I also hope people will visit our website, www.communitydentalwilmington.com, to learn more about our practice and the innovative steps we are taking to serve our patients.
They ignored my questions and my appointment seemed rushed. Their staff was not friendly at all, I didn't feel welcome there. I feel like my appointment was pointless. None of my questions were answered, nothing was accomplished, and I felt worse when I left. It was a waste of 1 hr of my life waiting in the lobby! If the appointment was at 11 then you shouldn't have to wait till 12 to go back to a waiting room. If you over book then allow people to reschedule without wasting their time. I rescheduled my appointment because I had to leave, and the secretary seemed t give me an attitude.( I will not be going back) If people within your office cannot communicate with one another than you should think about reevaluating your hiring process. Also tattoos, piercing, and grungy hair should not be tolerated in a professional atmosphere. I will never go back, and will let everyone know how bad my experience was.
They made the extra effort to make sure every question and concern I had was addressed. Let me just say that the chairs in their waiting room are quite comfortable. Its nice that they care about patient comfort. They always explain every aspect of my dental procedures to me. I never have to worry. I will absolutely return. I had an amazing experience, and they were by far the best I've ever seen. I love that I can count on them to work with me until they find a solution for my situation. Other places I've visited, seem to give up after they don't have an answer for me the first time, but not here.
