I went to see Dr Raymond Dunn to correct some structural (slight bump on bridge, nasal asymmetry) and functional (deviated septum)problems I had with my nose, that had grown worse over time. Although my nose wasn't that big or irregular looking, I thought that having the surgery would improve the quality of my life in ways that only I could tell. Initially I chose Dr.Dunn because another highly recommended plastic surgeon in Boston did not have the expertise or was apprehensive about correcting nasal tip asymmetry, which it turned out was a very necessary and successful part of my surgery. I also saved about $1500-2000 overall, which was important to me. After meeting with Dr.Dunn for the first time, I was very impressed with his "bedside manner". For example, I was surprised how much time he spent explaining the structure of cartilage, etc in the nose. This helped me understand what he thought he could correct. I suppose this could just be confusing to some. (For whatever reason, I noticed he did not discuss possible complications in the initial visit as much the other surgeon I had a consultation with.) Dr. Dunn performed my surgery 2 weeks ago. I can honestly I could not happier with the result. The improvements are subtle. Many people that I've known for while haven't even noticed. Not only did he achieve my aesthetic objectives, but I was also impressed how quickly I was up and about. Now this may vary depending on the procedure. I know not every surgery goes as well as mine, but I can honestly say I would recommend him to family/friends. I was very anxious about chosing the right surgeon, so hopefully this helps others in making a decision.
Dr. Dunn was not very accessible on my initial visit in that he did not speak to me, the patient, but rather spoke OF me to the others in the room. He described the surgery that would be performed and I looked forward to having it done. I had to go to 2 pre-op appts, neither of which Dr. Dunn attended and so I never was able to ask questions or find out why the attending PA was telling me different things than he had on the first visit. Next time I saw him was right before settling in for the surgery. He came and drew a diagram of his surgical intentions, which were different than I signed up for on day 1. With no real reason for the change (though I believe it was due to his being 1 hour behind in his schedule)I said nothing in fear of having the entire surgery canceled. After the surgery, Dr. Dunn did not visit me in the hospital. I'm now 1.5 wks out; have been to his office 3x for wound/drain issues, and I've still not seen him again. Tomorrow I go to see "him" and I need to ask how much it will cost to have the original surgery I had signed up for since this did not fix the problem. Insurance is paying for this issue; they will not pay for it to be done again, correctly. I cannot recommend this doctor to anyone. I'm still crying over the failure.
