BEWARE OF MARLENE DAHNE, AND THE DENTAL CARE CENTER

On March 16, 2013 I was treated by the Dental Care Center on tooth #29, and #19. They completed a tooth filling on #29, and a crown on #19.

On Jan. 7, 2014 the dentist had to perform a re-bonding of #19. On July 22, 2014 I visited the office for my routine six month cleaning. My previous dentist had left, and I was assigned a new dentist. This dentist examined my teeth and x-rays, and indicated I had extensive damage to my tooth #29, and I needed additional dental work. I asked why. She said that whoever did the last work on my tooth either damaged my tooth, and/or did an incomplete job by not placing a crown on the tooth. She was at that time unaware that the Dental Care Center was my last dentist. I informed her. She left to speak with someone else. Upon her return, she said since this was going to now be treated as a follow-up visit, she was given permission to do a pulp cap and a core buildup. She said I would not be charged for the services which were $425. I reminded her that she said I needed a crown, but she said she was only given permission to service my tooth as described. She said this would hold my tooth together.

In June, 2017 while eating dinner, my tooth $29 disintegrated, and any fillings apparently came out. I must have swallowed them, as I never located any of the fillings. On July 3, 2017 I once again visited the dentist regarding this tooth. They made a follow-up appointment for me on July 10, 2017. Once again I saw another new dentist who was unaware of my history with his practice. Despite my appeals that this should be yet another follow-up visit, I was charged another $143. I was told that I would not have my crown completed if I did not pay this fee immediately

Although my crown was still not completed, I was told that unless I pay the balance for the completion of the crown, I would not be given any more dental services related to this tooth. I paid an additional $689 on July 26, 2017. The crown was ordered on August 9. I was given a temporary crown, and was told it would take 10 days to 2 weeks for my crown to be sent to the office. I tried to make an appointment, but was told the office would call me. They did not. After waiting nearly 4 weeks, I finally called the office on August 28. The receptionist said my crown had been sent. I asked when the crown arrived. She said August 14! I asked why I wasn’t contacted She said she did not have my new telephone number. I told her I have had the same number since 1964. I asked her if I would have received my tooth, for which I already paid, had I not called. She said “probably not”. The Dental Care Center always have contacted me both my postcard and a telephone call for all previous appointments, yet they did neither for my crown which was pre-paid.

ABANDONMENT. The crown was completed on August 30. The dentist instructed me to see him in six months as a follow-up to insure this crown was okay. I immediately went to the office manager to voice my displeasure about paying for services previously paid for, and my treatment as previously indicated. I asked if I could sit down. She ignored me. I was forced to stand over her while I attempted to engage in conversation. This lasted for about 2 minutes as she refused to address her services and my expenses in 2013, and the follow-up visit in 2014. I asked to speak with the owner or the head dentist. She refused to provide any information to me. I told her if she refused to address my situation, I would have to contact Dominion Dental, and if necessary take legal action. She replied my stating I was threatening her, and I would not be allowed to return for any scheduled follow-up visits. I also said that the dentist had told me to follow-up with him in six months regarding his crown. She said, “I don’t care. Find a new dentist.” Now I have to incur additional expenses to see another dentist concerning their crown, and my tooth extraction, implant, and a new crown for #19.

On September 14, 2017 I received a letter from the Dental Care Center indicated that I was no longer a patient of theirs. I was abandoned from any future treatment or complications as a result of their negligence and malpractice.

As my records indicate this crown for tooth #19 was completed by the Dental Care Center on May 1, 2013. On November 9 this crown fell out. On November 10, I tried to contact Marlene Dahne at the Dental Care Center. I was not allowed so speak with her, but I did leave a message regarding the additional damage to another tooth, tooth #19.

On November 15, I saw Dr. Kelvin Smith for the hopes and expectations that he could simply replace my crown. He explained that he was unable to do so since part of my tooth was still attached to the crown, and I only had parts of my original tooth left due to the crown disengaging. He made an appointment for me with Dr. Bastacky for my tooth extraction.

Dr. Bastacky extracted my tooth #19 on 11/17. He informed me that I would need an implant to correct the damage done to my tooth. His estimate is for this procedure is $3,445. In addition I will need a new crown from Dr. Smith. His estimate is $2772.

On February 26, 2018 I had to return to Dr. Bastacky for a bone extraction, at an additional cost of $187.

The Dental Care Center was negligent in their efforts to repair my tooth #29 and tooth #19. Had they completed a crown as their dentist recommended for tooth #29 as Kernan Dental had indicated, I would not have had to suffer another crown, nor pay twice for the same services. I trusted them to provide the services they said would protect my teeth. I did not know of their incompetence until the events described in 2017. Instead they caused me irreparable harm. What’s unacceptable is not only they failed to remedy their damages, but they abandoned me from all other repairs due to their incompetence and negligence. I might add that until this experience I have always had all of my teeth in my adult life.

My dental expenses directly due to this dentist and her practice are $8156.30

Would you trust this dentist? I invite anyone to contact me for additional information.

They make no effort to make me feel special. I don't think they appreciate my loyalty to them. I had to wait a few weeks to get an appointment but I eventually got in. They didn't tell me anything about my treatment options. I left feeling very confused and frustrated. I wasn't too impressed with the staff. They could have been a lot more friendly.
