i was very satisfied with the Dr. but have had so many billing problems, they tried to bill me 26,000, then 10,000 then 3000, now we are under 1500, for surgery which was done in 2008. I have excellent insurance, and am only responsible for the co-pay. Due to this, I had to choose another Dr for follow-up. I've had a complete run around, the billing person said I had to contact my insurance and my insurance tells me all I am responsible for is the co-pay (10 dollars), and that I have to take it back up with the Dr’s office. It is infuriating; I believe if I were a less savy consumer, the office would bill both me and the insurance. I truly hope the Dr. is not aware of these practices, and it is merely incompetence and not fraud, I am initiating a consumer complaint to the consumer advocacy groups.

This surgeon is one of the busiest in the area but his office staff is old and incompetent. He recommended immediate surgery for "possible cancer, definitely abnormal, life threatening" which others said was obviously just an ordinary infection. On the staff, there were several cases of incompetence, but 2 stand out: I had to walk the imaging over several flights of stairs after asking the center to send them 3x, since repeatedly this staff claimed never to have gotten it, and insisted that they deal with my insurance wall the time yet got basic info about which center was eligible all wrong (I called the insurance up myself to redo what they should have done), wasting several important days. Other ENTs apparently think of him as a little too eager for business. So, even though when I asked around, nurses he worked with say he has experience and good surgical skills, I was worried about unnecessary surgery and screwups by his staff. In this area though, there are only 2-3 ENT with lots of surgical experience (ie a few hundred), so you'll have to go out of town, say to Hopkins in Baltimore.
