Dr. Francisco Ward is not the doctor you want to see. I began going to the practice seeing his colleague. The colleague left months ago. I decided to stick with the practice out of convenience. This most recent visit, I waited 90 minutes to be seen for a 9:00 appointment. When the office opens at 8:00, I fail to see how he could be running 90 minutes behind an hour after opening. I see him for pain management treatment. At the first visit several months ago, he began by telling me I am physically addicted and promptly cut my medication in half. Before this, I told him the medications were working better then ever. I did NOT ask for an increase, nor have I ever failed a drug test, asked for an early refill, or been noncompliant in any other way. I have MRIs and other various tests to back up my condition. He warned me I would suffer withdrawal and I would "have to learn to live with the pain.". "Pain never killed anyone." I beg to differ. I didn't suffer any withdrawal as far as I know, but I'm not an addict, so maybe that's the key?

Not sure why he specializes in pain management if he doesn't want to actually treat chronic pain to improve patients' quality of life. So now Fall is upon me, which means more physical labor at my job. On my most recent visit, he again cut my medication to 1/3 of what I had been taking. For the last couple of months, I had seen his physician's assistant. She was lovely - helpful and kind, and in no hurry to rush me from the room. She answered all questions, and offered alternatives for my pain. I am moving on to the doctor who left his practice earlier this year. The doctor he badmouthed openly, yet the only one who has ever listened to me and helped me live my life, besides his physician's assistant. I can't take the chance that any future appointments there will land me in his room again. He talks down to me, and acts insulted that I actually understand my condition and am knowledgeable about the medications that have and have not worked for me. God forbid I be proactive in my own care.

Dr. Ward, do your patients a favor and learn some common decency, or go take an extended vacation. Not everyone that needs opioid medication is a drug-seeking addict out to swindle you out of pills. Thanks for nothing.
