My primary care doctor of 38 years retired recently and recommended Dr. Hellman. His staff were friendly and very courteous. Even though I was there 5 minutes early, he asked if he could have his lunch before seeing me. So I waited for him to finish. When he finally entered the room he now appeared to have a chip on his shoulder, almost as if he were intimated or frightened over something. Flipping open his laptop he started firing off relentless questions and became angry if I tried to elaborate beyond a single word response. I explained that sometimes it's not as simple as a "yes" or a "no" when it comes to complex issues. I really tried to comply with his wishes and at no time did I raise my voice yet he insisted that he "was in command of the interview" and if I "didn't like it, I could leave right now!" Well I diplomatically protested by saying "I'm sorry you feel that way. Care to explain what's wrong?" He asked me to leave without further explanation. I was never so humiliated by a doctor in my 62 years.
