First of all this was my first time to a OBGYN. My aunt had worked at the LaGrange hospital and knew of her, and I had wanted a woman doctor. I had been bleeding for two weeks when I decided to go in Jan 7, 2008. I was 21 and scared that something was wrong with me. Well, I told the staff and doctor Huran that it was my first time and that I was scared. They didn't seem to care. I was blatantly told I was pregnant, I quote Dr. Huran "did u know u were pregnant"? just like that NO sympathy! Also a nurse had the nerve to say to me " you play you pay"!!! I was livid. Then I'm an terrified of needles, it's my worst fear. I don't even have to see one and I get freaked out and start crying. They said they had to do a blood test and at that point I wanted to leave. But I got my blood drawn, even though I totally almost had a anxiety attack and they told me to come in 2 days later Jan 9th. They did find hormones in my blood but needed another blood test to confirm that it was doubling like a healthy pregnancy. All the while I was still bleeding, which didn't concern them. The second blood test showed that the levels weren't rising like they should be so a ultrasound was scheduled for Jan 11, 2008. But they didn't find anything during the 2 types of ultrasounds I had even though the doctor said I was 5 weeks pregnant. Also after the ultrasounds the pain worsened severely, probably because of the probe ultrasound. I was in horrible pain, still bleeding and they gave me no help. One nurse tried to convince me bleeding was common, some women bleed all the way though pregnancy, or maybe I had had twins and one had died. (yea sure). That night I was in so much pain I called the office back. I felt like I was going to die. The nurse told me to take so aspirin and a hot bath. So I did, I took pills every 6 hours and many hot baths, But the pain was terrible. The next day I called a different doctor in the same building as Mary Huran and he was alarmed at the symptoms I had and the hormone numbers form the previous blood tests. He said I was having an Etopic pregnancy and to go immediately to the emergency room. Once there I endured a horror filled 7 hour stay in constant stabbing and gut wrenching pain. The ultra sound the hospital did just 3 days after my original ones at Horan's office found the "baby" in my right tube and the tube expanding. My tube could have exploded, I could have lost my ovary, and possibly my life. Huran and her office had missed it and never believed me from the start. My new doctor said they had really messed up. Just because I hadn't planned to have a baby and because of my age I believe they treated me irresponsibly. I would never go to that office again and would tell anyone who is thinking of going there, to go to the doctor on the first floor in the same exact building as Mary Huran instead. This was less the 6 months ago and I'm still not totally over the way the doctor and her staff were so rude and negligent.
