This man recommended doing needling on bursitis. Needling is a practice that has no real empirical evidence to show that it works. The National Institutes of Health suggests that it's efficacy is mostly due to the placebo effect. When I told my primary care doctor that Dr. Roberts wanted to do this he almost fell off his chair laughing. When I asked if it was not an actual practice, he replied, "Oh it is. I just didn't think anyone was actually performing it any longer." He explained that it really was a waste of time and essentially I would be spending money that would be better saved.
