Dr. Folks saved my life (Kathleen Smith) in 1982, Atlanta Ga. I had fractured C2 in a car accident. He is an excellent Dr. He also saved my bosses mothers life (Mrs. Cato) I can't say enough wonderful qualifications about him!
Dr. Fokes performed brain surgery on me in 1976 for a subdural hematoma I sustained after catching a line drive with my forehead while playing baseball with the neighborhood kids. The blood clot was huge by the time it was detected days later as the E.R. doctor that saw me shortly after the accident said I was fine and sent me home with pain medication. The next day I didn't wake up. I had surgery 2 days later. Dr. Fokes was very kind and took time to talk with me while he was preparing me for surgery, I was only 12 and didn't understand what was going on and why they had to cut off all my hair but he explained it to me and made me feel very comfortable and after surgery he listened to my concerns and treated me very kindly. I will eternally be grateful to Dr. Fokes and the staff at DeKalb Medical Center in Georgia. I grew up to be a paramedic in Atlanta, I'm the mother of 2 grown sons and a proud grandmother of 3.
Just did a Google search to locate Dr. Folks. He operated on me at Northside Hospital in Atlanta Georgia in November 1970 for a herniated cervical disk that was causing muscle and nerve loss in my right arm. He did a fusion that has served me well for 42 years. No subsequent problems despite an active life that experienced more violent testing of that joint than I care to remember. Thanks, Dr. Folks for a job well done early in your career.
