THIS DOCTOR'S LICENSE SHOULD BE REVOKED!. MY FAMILY AND I TRUSTED HIS OPINION FOR MANY YEARS. ON MY DAUGHTER'S LAST VISIT, HE SAID SHE NEEDED A STRONGER PRECRIPTION, AN ASTIGMATISM CORRECTION, AND THAT SHE ALSO HAD CATARACTS. BEING TOLD YOU HAVE THESE PROBLEMS AT A YOUNG AGE DEVASTATED MY DAUGHTER. LUXENBERG MAPPED OUT THE CATARACTS ON A PIECE OF PAPER, SHOWING US THE RIGHT EYE WAS MUCH WORSE THAN THE LEFT. THEN LUXENBERG STARTED PUSHING US TO SCHEDULE THE SURGERY IMMEDIATELY. WITHOUT INSURANCE, HE WAS GOING TO DO US A BIG FAVOR AND ONLY CHARGE $10,000. NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT WOULD HAVE TO WAIT. MY DAUGHTER STOPPED DRIVING BECAUSE HER VISION WAS SO POOR. WELL, SHE GOT AN EYE INFECTION, AND I COULD NOT GET AN APPOINTMENT WITH LUXENBERG, SO I CALLED ANOTHER DOCTOR. I TOLD THE NEW OPTHAMOLOGIST WHO MY REGULAR EYE DOCTOR WAS, AND HE IMMEDIATELY DID A FULL EXAM BECAUSE OF LUXENBERG'S REPUTATION. WITHIN 5 SECONDS, I FOUND OUT SHE DID NOT HAVE CATARACTS AND THE PRESCRIPTION FOR HER EYE GLASSES WERE TOO STRONG AND CORRECTING FOR PROBLEMS SHE DID NOT HAVE. I ORDERED NEW GLASSES FROM THIS NEW DOCTOR AND SHE COULD SEE PERFECTLY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO MANY PEOPLE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DAUGHTER, AND I HAVE HEARD SEVERAL HORROR STORIES ABOUT CHARLES LUXENBERG. HE IS JEOPARDIZING HIS PATIENTS HEALTH AND IS DANGEROUS.

I was upset when I left the office but since there were quite a few people around I did not make a scene. When I had made my appointment over a week prior to my visit, I made it clear that I was going in for a check up and to possibly get a pair of prescription readers (I had been using drugstore readers). As I was paying, I asked about getting the glasses. I was told I was not given a refraction and would have to come back again. I had taken time off from work this week for several appointments including this one. The fact that I was told I would have to come back for what I had asked in the first place does not sit well with me. When asked if I would like to make another appointment, I said I did not want to bother.
