I don't feel he explains problems very well nor supports his patients. He freaked me out during my first pap with him by saying there's a huge mass and then ordering a cancer screening. That came back negative and he didn't order any follow-up.

Next annual, it was like he was seeing me for the first time - same questions and OMG, There's a huge mass! Get a cancer screening! Schedule surgery!

So I scheduled the surgery, but when I found out what my copay would be, I started looking around about different options - maybe the mainland, maybe the surgery center. I'm scared and need direction and support, but instead just got a nasty call from the office. Thanks, lady. Real nice.

I should have stopped going there a year and a half ago when my gut told me to. If you're getting the same internal warning, listen to it.

Dr. Peterson was my OBGYN for 4 of my children. He was extremely kind, polite and professional. He saw me each month, and towards the end, I was coming every week. His office is the only one in Key West that is equiped with an ultrasound machine in house, EACH TIME I had an appointment he gave me an ultrasound. Very professional, and thorough. I can not say enough good things about him and his office. Also, I saw that someone left a review saying to go see Dr. DeLong instead. My last delivery, Dr. Peterson was out of town unexpectedly and so when I got to the hospital Dr. DeLong was on call. He did not give me the time of day, LITERALLY. In fact, he did not grace us with his presence in the delivery room (sleeping in the doctor's lounge) until I knew that I was fully dialated (this was my 5th child) and I had to demand that the nurses go get him. Well, that whole cenario was extremely disappointing, but he topped that one by following up with another display of total diregard the next day. He stopped by the room (actually he only opened the door and peeked his head in) to check on my health status. Like I said, he never even came in the room! But told me that I would need to stay for another 2 days. Without even taking my temperature or seeing how much I was bleeding. Do not see this man.

At Dr. Peterson's office, you won't be treated as a paying customer, but as one consigned to serve a sentence. So don't expect a smile and "How are you feeling?" from the nurse. As with most locally trained nurses in the Keys -- Thanks Florida Keys Community College! -- she'll just get right down to telling you to go pee in a cup. And you can't expect professionalism from the front office staff either. The receptionist has a sour attitude and the office manager will try to pump as much cash as she can out of you. Dr. Peterson is a kind man and seems like an OK doctor, but I'd advise women to look elsewhere -- to Dr. DeLong (better front desk); Dr. Ward (fantastic midwife who works with her); or to Dr. Grizzle (who is a better physician).
