ON 6/20/2001 I had the TUMT (Microwave) done for a enlarged prostate. What a mistake. I have had to have 4 TURP operations since then and still have burning to this day all the time when I urinate. I also have "stones or rock hard deposits" that from on or around my prostate. I have had to under go 10 Cystoscopy since the TUMT was preformed. I was told before the TUMT by Dr. Cavins that there would be none of these side affects. I have seen three different doctors since Dr. Cavins screwed me up. I have another Cystoscopy scheduled for Sept. 27, 2010 to remove more "stones". Before you decide on the TUMT or Microwave I would get three different opinions on the difference between the TUMT and TURP (rotor rooter) Think twice before go to Dr. Cavins. My current doctors have said that the microwave has caused poor blood circulation to the Prostate which is causing the stones or deposits to continue to form. My personal opinion is that because the TUMT is preformed in the Doctor's office and not the Hospital they make a larger percentage of money by having you consent to the Microwave and not do the time tested TURP in the hospital. I do know for that Dr. Cavins has screwed me up for life with the TUMT also called Microwaved or as his nurses described it "THE WEENIE COOKER'. Not being a doctor these are my personal opinions but one thing for sure is that after the Microwave my life has changed. I've been told by other people that the Microwave done that it seemed to work for them, while other said that it did nothing. Just be sure and get as many opinions as you can before you decide which way to go. Do not end up like me.
