Dr.Patel seemed like a competent doctor. His staff is horrible. I needed cataract surgery. I asked how much it would cost. I had to ask twice. Once in writing which was ignored, and once over the phone. Finally the office manager told me "$2500, well maybe $3000 including the surgery center and the anesthesiologist. But what does it matter your insurance will cover it.". It did matter because I have a large deductible. She did not tell me at that time that I needed a pre-op physical or expensive post-op meds. Two days before the procedure I get a call from the surgery center that their bill alone is over $2500. I ask again in writing for the costs. Once I piece it together I find that it will be $4400 and that doesn't include what it cost me for the physical. Incompetent at best, dishonest at worst.
