Barbara Charles is absolutely FANTASTICAL!! After experiencing horrible treatment and receiving misinformation regarding my care with my first pregnancy in 2004, I decided to take the natural route this time around. I found Barbara around my 16th week if I'm not mistaken. She left no stone unturned when it came to my health and well being and made sure I stayed on top of everything also. I love the fact that she has a holistic and natural approach above all else. After 10 hours of steady climbing contractions during labor, I suddenly went from 6cm to 10cm in pretty much less than a minute, which gave no time to even get me into the tub. The baby was delivered extremely fast, 2 pushes and he was out! Even though I did not get to follow through with a planned water birth, I am still eternally grateful that Barbara was there to deliver my little one safe and sound. Things happen and sometimes plans fall through but at the end of the day my baby is here and all is well! Barbara has gained my absolute trust and I will continue to see her for my postpartum and obgyn care. :0)
I switched my care over to B. Charles when I was 27 weeks pregnant with my second child. After having a c/s with my first, a hired doula advised it was the best if I turned to a midwife in hopes for a VBAC and she knew exactly where to. “Barbara will get you your VBAC” she said. I noticed the difference right away. The care, attention to every single detail (up to my transportation), love and bonding experience I found in Barbara’s office was unmeasurably warmer and much more heart felted that of my pretty friendly OB. But there was a catch! I had to travel all the way up to Long Island/Huntington from Astoria every time I had an appointment. Not a single friend of mine thought it was such an awesome idea considering the fact that I has due right in the middle of heated July and didn’t drive (didn’t even have a car!). They thought I was literally crazy or at least not within reason since “there were plenty of OBs around”. But right from the beginning Barbara proved to be well worth the effort and definitely better than most OBs. Right away she instructed me on a diet, massages, exercising and spiritual mindset needed for back then our mutual goal of vaginal delivery. It took some serious work and determination to follow but whenever I felt like a failure I had Barbara’s awesome, almost supernatural support, experience and dedication to lift me up. Only 13 weeks later I walked out of that delivery room having gotten my VBAC, my gorgeous new baby, a new health provider & a friend, and an amazing unforgettable experience which I absolutely fell in love with, not to mention I weighted the whole 7 lb less than before even getting pregnant (and I was far from being overweight to begin with to say the least)! Now all my friends who aren’t even pregnant want to know who cared for me and ask for Barbara’s contacts! Thank you so much Barbara! Our whole family deeply cherishes memories of you! Love, Maria
She is amazing. During my wife's 55 hour labor she was there for over 20 hours of it.. She fought to avoid a c-section because my wife did not want one. Eventually with her help, my wife had a very healthy baby gil naturally. You will not regret going to her.
When we started seeing her (as soon as I found out I was pregnant) she was sweet, grandmotherly and open. She soon became demeaning, cruel, and downright mean. She made fun of me, she doubted all of my choices, she made me cry... and she made me bleed for THREE days with her rough, invasive exam. I switched to an OB practice at 32 weeks and never looked back... and what a good decision! RUN away from this woman. She may FOOL you into thinking she is sweet, but you will very quickly see that she only sees ONE side and ONE solution to everything, and she is very quick to be mean, angry, and vicious.
