Dr. John P. Difiori was a major dissapointment. Dr. John P. Difiori examined me in less than 4 minutes, never even glanced at the expensive X-Rays I was told to produce. Came across as uncaring, uninterested, unhelpful, unwelcoming, uneducated and inefficient. I would not recommend Dr. John P. Difiori neither for surgery nor for minor issues. Dr. John P. Difiori does not inspire confidence in his practice, he comes across rather unpleasant, even for Sports Medicine doctor.
However, his staff, nurses and assistants were impeccably nice and better educated. I received a much better diagnosis from one of the younger apprentices and she was pleasant.

DiFiori was 1.5 hrs and 1 hr late on the two appointments I had, even though on the second occasion the waiting room was vacant and the patient rooms all stood empty with doors ajar.

On the first occasion, he reduced me to tears. On both occasions, he left me totally confused and questioning his understanding of my case. He ordered an MRI even though I have metal staples in my knee, which the MRI scheduler explained would probably be negatively affected by the strong magnets in the MRI machine.

He was preemptory and dismissive. It was clear he was trying to discourage me from returning to his office. He didn't address the few questions I put before him before he abruptedly disappeared.

I've never met a doctor like this in my fifty years on this planet. I assume that, as one of only two sports medicine doctors in the UCLA HMO, he assumes the patient has to put up with this treatment and has no recourse.

As someone over on Yelp.com/Los Angeles wrote, his staff were pleasant and accomodating, but the man himself is an unmitigated.

Avoid.
