I've been a patient of Dr. Pickrell's since 2001 when he first opened his practice in Austin. He is one of the most compassionate people I've ever met. He and his entire staff take the time to listen to the concerns of their patients, never make them feel rushed, and are quick to return phone calls. I appreciate that they make the regular check up appointments in advance but also have slots available for acute flare-ups. Dr P is selective when hiring his support team so the level of professionalism and care is consistent throughout the practice. I keep his cards in my purse and recommend him to anyone who needs a Rheumatologist. I value his part of my health care team.

I wish they were able to answer more of my questions over the phone. Most of the time, they make me drive all the way down there for an appointment. It seemed like they didn't learn anything knew since they graduated medical school, which was years ago. It was obvious that they hadn't made any effort to continue their education.

The nursing staff never returns calls and failed to give me my abnormal test results. Almost every time I visit, I have to remind them who I am, why I'm there, and what my circumstances are. My records sometimes reflect that the doctor has confused me with other patients.

The doctor refused to give me a written referral to another specialist, because it became very apparent that he was absolutely unfamiliar with my disease and hadn't treated anyone with it before. He told me that my abnormal test results (abnormal for past year only) were nothing to be concerned with. His exact words were " I could go for a jog and the have abnormal labs". He also failed to document my symptoms fully (good thing my ortho & neuro doc's did).

PS. want to add that I have had labs and seen other dr's prior to moving here, they have documented what Dr Pickrell left out. Including those "go for a jog" labs.

If you want pain meds and no treatment, he is the guy to go to. Beware that they may hide your abnormal labs (like they did with me, my ortho read them and alerted me to them). He can also substantiate my symptoms and your false records.

I would choose them over anyone else in the field, and I can’t wait until my next appointment. They were very careful with my joints during my appointment and made sure that I wasn't in any pain. They always made sure that I wasn't in any pain. I love that I can count on them to work with me until they find a solution for my situation. Other places I've visited, seem to give up after they don't have an answer for me the first time, but not here. They were ready to see me when I showed up for my appointment. I never had to wait for them to show up. He already sees my father and his staff made the effort to actually get me to see them so that they could compare our cases and work towards a resolution.

I was given a polite greeting when I walked in. It was nice to be acknowledged. When comparing them to others I have visited for the same condition, they are among the best I have seen. I'm absolutely going to be recommending them to all my friends and family. I think everyone I know should know about this place. They are nice but WAY overbooked and the staff is clearly overworked. They should really allow for more time in between appointments if they want to keep any business.

They were ready to see me when I showed up for my appointment. I never had to wait for them to show up. They put in the extra effort to make me feel valued and important. They always go above and beyond to help me with anything I need. They never complain about anything, and I know I can always count on them. I'm so happy with how my appointment went. They far exceeded my expectations. I was worried that I would be in a lot of pain during my appointment, but they made sure that they were very gentle with me and didn't aggravate my joints at all.
