I had back pain since my teens. I went to many specialists, most of whom would prescribe powerful pain killers, muscle relaxers, and anti inflammatories, and saw many chiroptactors, all who wanted me on the medical dole 3x a week forever.

One dr (when I was 20) said I'd be in a wheel chair at 60. Every few years, I'd go through debilitating periods of being unable to walk. To get out of bed, I'd have to throw one leg over the other and ease myself to the floor and slowly pull myself up to stand.

I received a few different diagnoses until one finally made sense, Bertolotti Syndrome, which could be seen on xrays. Parts of my spine fused before birth causing stress in surrounding muscle tissue.

In the early 90s, I was very fortunate to meet Bernie Finnerty and his staff at Hampton Phys Therapy, who carefully and methodically manipulated the muscles in my lower back, around the sciatica, iliasoas, and got them to release. Then Bernie taught me a particular stretch that has kept me out of pain ever since. His staff taught me other stretches that I frequently use. I was about 38 then.

Today, almost 20 years later, I am pain free and still use these stretches. I am more active now than any other time and am so very grateful for their knowledge, patience, and willingness to help people heal and live active lives.

I had the pleasure of being a patient at Hampton Physical Therapy. I never thought I was going to feel better. I have herniated discs in my neck. My therapist Bernard Finnerty was extremely good. When I came in for my first visit I was in alot of pain and could barely turn my head. Now I am almost competely pain free and am able to move my head from side to side with no problem. His staff were very friendly and have always me feel welcome and were informative if I had any questions about my insurance. I was recommended to this offce by a former patient who had a knee replacement and was amazed how after only afew visits she also felt so much better. If you are every in the Hamptons and need physical therapy, this is the place to go...

Bernard A. Finnerty has no idea what he is doing as a physical therapist treating people. This was the worst experience with a medical professional that I have ever had. I came to the physical therapist office after being treated for my condition for three months prior and had a pretty good idea what the experienced therapists from the city had been doing. Also, my condition was improving with the doctor prescibed therapy. Bernard Finnerty refused to follow my presciption which called for treatment in both feet. He said, "You are not in New York city anymore," and would not treat both feet. Instead of treating the part of the foot that I was experienceing pain in he treated all around it. He had his assistant Dina shock me with about 10 times the voltage she should of used with her ultrasound. I had told repeated how sensitive my ankles were but still she cranked up the voltage and shocked me so badly and it hurt so much that I broke into tears. Also Bernard Finnery was not happy as he had to put in for treatments with my insurance as I was getting close to the end of my treatments. He complained about this fact thoughout my treatment with him. He also is breaking all kinds of health code violations I am sure by having his big stinking dog run around the place. I would run, walk or roll away from this place instead of trusting these third rate health care "profesionals". Good luck finding decent physical therapy care. This is not the place. If they had negative or no stars this place would get it in my book.
