Some hero's wear capes and have flashy names, mine wears a white coat and is named Dr. Agha. I had 90% hearing loss in my right ear due to a ruptured ear drum when I was 13 years old. 40 years later following the ear surgery Dr. Agha performed in March of 2013, I can actually hear! On my first visit Dr. Agha told me I had a perforated left ear drum. I cried. This was my remaining ‘good’ ear. Dr. Agha tossed me a tissue and said, “I’m going to fix this.” He reassured me and promised. He explained what the procedure would require, reached into his pocket and pulled out my miracle. On the evening after my surgery, I was already able to hear small sounds for the first time in 40 years. Now after only 3 weeks, I can talk on the phone using my right ear. I can really hear! My hero is the man in the white coat, Dr. Agha!

My son, 20 years old with developmental delays, went to Dr. Agha. He attended appt with someone from his school. The doctor came in to see him and immediately launched into a tirade about how surgery can cause death and other possible complications before ever mentioning that surgery may be needed. Seems that he was very irritated with my son because he was slow to answer questions. It seemed that the doctor misunderstood why my son was there. When I called the doctor, he then told me that he had to spend too much time with him and told me that he did "not have time to explain all the complications of surgery"? Finally, he allowed me to ask for his recommendation and I was told that surgery was not recommended. It was a very bizarre conversation. I am a nurse and I have never spoken to such a rude physician. It's clear that he has no tolerance for individuals with disabilities.
