I went to see Dr. Hoeplinger for bilateral turbinate reduction. I suffer from extreme environmental allergies and my nasal airway (was) is pretty much obsructed. This has now led to severe obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Hoeplinger reduced both turbinates. The surgery itself was uneventful. No pain whatsoever; however, the first few nights were pretty bad, due to severe congestion (you can not breathe out of your nose for about a week). Now that I am fully healed I can breathe perfectly out of my left nostril; however, my right nostril continues to bother me and is almost completely blocked once again. The office staff didn't help me much at my post-op follow up(s). I todl them about the continued blockage, and they basically said that I will have to come back in for "further review". My apnea continues and I am suffering the consequences. I am going back in for further evaluation, and I have to assume further surgeries. I just wish I knew if the surgery was unsuccessful, or if I am just one of those patients that is going to require multiple surgeries, etc. The staff (doctor included) were not exactly clear on that. I asked about my adenoids, tonsils, septum, sinuses, etc and I was NOT given clear answers. They did not order x-rays or other imaging studies (e.g. MRI). I have heard that that it SHOULD have been done. I do have to say though, the doctor is very nice and has a great bedside manner. His PA Heather is wonderful as well (when it comes to bedside manner). They just need to answer questions better and give the patient a better outlook and prognosis.

They paid close attention to me and all of my questions were answered. Their staff is very friendly and professional. I wish I would have had more time to ask questions, I am still very confused about my hearing loss. It was pretty hard to find the building, but I eventually found it. I am not good with directions though. The doctor and staff are wonderful people. But I don't have a clue why I cannot hear out of my right ear. Ever since I had my two top teeth out I have had problems with hearing. Some doctors say it is related and some say it isn't but the fact remains I cannot hear well on of my right ear.
And I really need some answers.
