Dr. Salous was my daughter's doctor for her first 1 1/2 years. I wish I would have left sooner. EVERY time we went in he referred to my daughter as a "he." She was bald, and in a diaper, but how hard is it to look at the chart before saying something. He never asked a single question about her development, whether she was walking, crawling, talking, making eye contact, etc. Each visit I got the same run-through of questions from the nurse including "does your baby sleep in a crib?" and "is your house childproofed" well if the answers were yes the first 5 visits, why would I take her out of the crib and un-child-proof my house? I asked sincere questions about ONE vaccination (hep B) and rather than give me a reasonable explanation the nurse gave me a scare answer that Hep B can live in a pool of blood for 24 hours . . . I'd have to be a pretty inadequate parent to let my child play in a pool of blood - let alone the chances of her coming across one infected with Hep B. To top it all off, I was told I could not hold and/or nurse my baby during vaccinations. I think that is just ridiculous and un-informed. You get a much calmer and easier to console baby if they are able to be nursed or at least held. Maybe he is a good doctor for adults, but I found the whole office totally useless when it came to infants. I have found a new, wonderful, qualified pediatrician at a great office with wonderful nurses for my children.
