I definitely will not return as it is certain that he has decided I am a whiny patient. It is difficult enough to ask for help which is something he said at my first appointment. "If there's ever anything you need let me know." I wasn't sure of his behavior at my first visit as he rolls his eyes a lot. I decided not to read into it and just count it as his mannerism. He always seems to be trying to hurry up so he can get to the next patient. On my first visit, I went in because I kept injuring myself at the hip. I told myself it was muscle strain but didn't want to keep self-diagnosing because it kept happening. Even knowing that I haven't had a job in three years and that I was leery of all the co-pays, he prescribed a muscle relaxer for my back instead because of my new patient history form. He never mentioned my hip again and referred me to an orthopaedic specialist for my back. After two of those visits plus six sessions of physical therapy, my insurance finally cleared me for an m.r.i. and x-ray only to find what I initially said was the case and nothing new about my back.

The muscle relaxers do come in handy sometimes, so I just bit the bullet and decided to go back to him. I went back a couple weeks ago because I needed paperwork for a volunteer opportunity. I got the blood work done, but since I paid a co-pay I figured I could at least see the doctor. Same quick interaction and let's get you out the door rush feeling, but he didn't seem to be rude. He gave me to one of the ladies in the office to handle what I was trying to say to him and went on about his day.

Today, I went because my counselor convinced me to stop dealing with my mental illness on my own and at least ask Dr. Moody if he could prescribe something to help with my anxiety as I continue to look for work until I could get back to seeing a psychiatrist. I let the worker know what my appointment was for, so I imagine it was in my file. While I was sitting in the room, one of his assistants came in looked at me and said "yup" then left. A second one came in to see if the doctor had been in (I wasn't in there more than 5 minutes) when I said no she asked as she walked away "well then where is your file?" So, I imagine the doctor saw what I came in for and looked at my history and made up in his mind how to respond.

When he came in, he said welcome to Mondays what can I do for you. I tried to figure how to begin and after I said that my counselor suggested that I at least ask if he could prescribe something... he cut me off and hollered at me about what a psychologist couldn't tell him. He was using all his body language to tell me that the "psychologist" was out of her league and trying to tell him something that is not his authority. Having previously been prescribed something for anti-anxiety until I could get in to see a psychiatrist, I got the impression that he simply made up in his mind that today either wasn't a good day to ask him anything or I must be another whiny client that he's sick of... he began to try to ask me about other symptoms outside of my anxiety and depression after telling me that specialists are needed for their field of expertise and that my "psychologist" was not cleared to say that my physician should do anything that a psychiatrist should do. I was absolutely put off by his tone and response making up in my mind that I didn't need or want anything else from him. So, even after paying another co-pay and not getting what I went to him for... I simply left.

I thought it was necessary to write a review because if it were 10 years ago when I first started seeing professionals for mental health, I would have been exploring ways to kill myself afterwards based on already feeling overwhelmed and then being hollered at while trying to ask for help. I didn't feel humiliated, but I did feel like I was out of rope at my wits end after leaving this morning. Thankfully, I was able to speak to someone at a local church afterwards to get myself back together. My heart goes out to anyone who just can't take another rude answer as I was only expecting to hear, "no I can't do that" or "I can refer to someone" if he wasn't willing to write the prescription. Anyone can just about handle that, but being yelled at and hearing that you're not being listened to by someone who swore to do no harm is highly damaging. I'm sure his first thought would be to thank God for losing me as a patient rather than being remorseful or bothering to think to apologize.

They made sure that their qualifications were obvious. I was confident that I was under the care of a professional. They've never dismissed any of my concerns as unimportant, and take every concern of mine very seriously. They had quite a few interesting magazines, which made my time in the waiting room go by much faster. Their prices were very fair. The level of care you get for the price is outstanding.

They always make sure to return my phone call as soon as possible. They've never left me waiting. Not only do my appointments never get canceled last minute, they take time out of their day to send me a reminder so I don't forget. They are extremely reliable. I'm usually somewhat sensitive to the cold, so I was a little worried that their office would be too cold, but it was fine. I was very comfortable the entire time. They are completely committed to helping me as long as it takes to find the best solution. I never have to worry that they'll back out or give up if a solution isn't reached immediately, which has been a problem for me at other places. They've never used foul language, which has bothered me at some of the other places I've been too. They always make an extra effort to be polite and courteous.
