Mindy has been my psychologist for several years. I have never found her to be anything other than competent, respectful and compassionate. She is very good at holding her professional boundaries. Can't really call it a complaint, but she's usually running late but rarely more than 10 minutes. In fact I see it as a measure of her compassion that when needed she will give a client a few extra minutes at the end of a session. I have received this little "extra" many times. No psychologist is right for everyone but hard for me to imagine one who's more right for me.

Not really, sometimes I worry they're going to stop trying to help me

During my appointments, their attention is always completely on me. They always listen very intently, and have never done anything to make me feel like they weren't paying attention or didn't care. Not only were they able to provide everything they promised me, they went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. Their office was the absolute perfect temperature. It was so nice to be able to get out of the weather outside and sit in a relaxing, comfortable office. When comparing them to others I have visited for the same condition, they are among the best I have seen. They've always been on time for my appointments. They've never kept me waiting. She is absolutely wonderful !!!

A thoroughly competent therapist whose insight and skill provide me with satisfying results. Mindy is extremely knowledgeable,qualified, supportive,and compassionate.
She talks to me rather than down at me which makes me feel respected and heard.
I can't imagine anyone more effective with such a multitude of therapy styles incorporated in each session.
She is an excellent mediator in a couples setting too.
I feel like I make progress every week after a session with this eccellent psycholgist!

I can not express how bad the experience was that I had with this therapist. She claims that she is compassionate. She says that she has an arsonal of tools to help you recover. She says that she doesn't tell you how to run your life. In MY experience none of this is true. She gave me many ultimatums and some were so trivial. I won't go into details but it was ridiculous. Overall I would say that Mindy Benowitz is very rigid, judgemental and has a mean streak in her. She says she is culturally sensitve. That's true if you are not Christian. She made a few comments about Christians to me that were anything but sensitive. She constantly takes notes while you talk. One of her biggest "tools" is having you make lists. Not something I need a psychologist to do. I saw her over a year ago and I am still recovering from her "treatment". I have been seeing another therapist for about a year now and it has gone very well. I have had no problems with this new therapist. She has been very helpful and she gave me a chance unlike Mindy.

Mindy said I was a liar and was skeptical of anything I told her. She threatened to sue me when I pointed out what someone else had said about her on the net. (apparently I am not the only one who finds Mindy to be less than adequate) I was trying to help her and she got accusative and kept talking about suing the person who wrote these horrible things about her. She thought that because I alerted her to these comments that I must have written them. She told me I smell bad. I was sick. I was hemorraging and she told me that she could not work with me if I did not smell better. It was a few weeks of me being very ill. She told me it was "Mild" body odor, said she had considerered that I was ill but that didn't matter to her. In fact she didn't even believe that I was sick until she heard from the other doctor that I in fact was ill. Because after all she thought I was a liar.

THE BEST THING I DID WAS LEAVE MINDY BENOWITZ

I felt the need to warn others.

If she tries to sue me for this review well all I can say is I stand by my words and experience and I believe in freedom of speech.
