Provider misinformed me about forms of payment accepted before appointment, then refused to accept authorized payment from the company they had previously said they accepted. Were rude and unaccommodating, demanding my prescription back. Their lack of organization and knowledge of how the process works for a payment they claim to accept resulted in a lot of frustration and wasted time on my part. I will never recommend this provider to anyone.

DETAILS:
When I called to schedule my appointment, I asked if the provider accepted CareCredit as a form of payment and they assured me that yes, they did. When my exam was completed, and I gave them my card, their machine wouldn't accept it.

The receptionist said that they have run CareCredit cards on that terminal before. I called CareCredit customer service, and they said that the provider needed a CareCredit card terminal, not a generic Visa/MasterCard terminal, and that they weren't authorized to run it. The CareCredit representative asked to speak to the staff so she could straighten out the issue, and the receptionist refused to get on the phone. The CC representative was very confused, saying she didn't understand why they wouldn't speak to her, that normally physicians are more than willing to get on the phone and get the issue sorted out. The doctor finally got on the phone, and the CC rep determined that they are not, in fact, CareCredit providers. She graciously offered to authorize the payment over the phone, despite all of this, and they refused.

I asked them why they said they were CareCredit providers when I called, and she said that others' cards have worked on their machine before. I was very confused and frustrated that they had communicated this to me, then refused to accept the payment from the CC company over the phone, a perfectly viable form of payment, when the communication error had been theirs in the first place. I told her that it was the only form of payment I had available at the moment, and that if the company was willing to authorize it, I didn't understand why they wouldn't accept it.

The receptionist demanded my prescription back and said I could have it when I paid. I assured her I wouldn't be back, that they could keep my prescription, and that I would take my business elsewhere. I've never had a physician be so unhelpful, and I will never recommend this provider to anyone.
