Dr. Matthews was over 2 hours late and came into the office, complaining he had just gotten off a 36 hour plane flight. Right then and there I cringed. How can he possibly do his job after such a flight? Well, I found out that he couldn't. I coughed (I have sinus issues) and he came flying into my exam room and had the nerve to yell at me, that I have the flu, then flew back out of the room. Then, he had a nurse come in and give me a face mask! I could tell she was very embarrassed for him. He came flying back into my room and very calmly I told him I was leaving and that he had been rude & unprofessional, along with being 2 hours late. He actually yelled at me that he had only been 1 hour late, again proving he should have taken the day off. Next he shocked me even more - he actually threatened to call the police on me, then security. His office manager actually told him that that would be unnecessary. I told all his waiting patients and his office staff good-luck, and I left.

I WAS A PATIENT OF DR MATTHEWS FOR 15yrs
I AM ALIVE TODAY BECAUSE OF HIS CARE
HE IS CARING AND IN 1998 WHEN I HAD MY FIRST STENTS
MY DAUGHTER THAT LIVES IN TEXAS.
HE TOOK THE TIME TO CALL HER AND EXPLAIN MY RESULTS
I HAD HAD TWO PREVIOUS BY-PASSES AND LAST ONE IN 1990
ONLY ONE OUT OF THEE WORKED. I HAD ACUTE ANGINA
WAS TOLD AT THAT TIME ,NOTHING COULD BE DONE
DR MATTHEWS GAVE ME MY LIFE \
I had my first heart surgery at 38'yrs 3 way bypass 1976
Moved to Oregon in 2012

I was referred to this doctor by my primary doctor. When I first met Dr. Matthews he made me feel at ease about my health condition. Her staff is really nice, but there is only one nurse who knows what I am talking about when I call the office (others just take msgs). The blonde girl in the front has a good attitude but seems too distracted all the time. My next follow up appointments have been different with Dr. Matthews, he is always on his phone talking to his sons ( i have heard) and forgets what he was saying right before his phone interrupts a consultation. The only reason I am giving only 3 stars is because I dislike very much that they always keep rescheduling my appointments and the waiting time is up to 2 hrs. Other than that he is a good doctor, but he must really take care of his family problems private and be on time when he has a full office. I will see how my next appointment goes and if I wait more than 30 min or they keep rescheduling my appointments I will have to change to a different office.

When I pressed Dr. Mathews for a blood pressure medication I could afford, he yelled at me. He yelled that any other medication would cost me more. I don't need to be yelled at by a doctor. I should have snapped back at him when it did it, but I was totally taken by surprise. Then I called four times trying to get my records sent to my primary physician. My records never got sent. My primary physician in upstairs from Dr. Mathews office. His office staff could have walked up one flight of stairs and dropped my records off, but it nevr got done. I cancelled all my future appoints with him.

Dr Mathews has a pleasant bedside manner & which me a false sense of security in his care. Without going into detail, the good docter managed to bungle a routine cardiac procedure which left me with a myriad collection of long-term medical problems. None of them life threatening, but which have severely complicated mydaily lfe. Look elsewhere for any medical care.
