Learn to be more open with my feelings

I've sheltered myself from the world while putting everything I had into raising my four kids in which are all adults now...I never attempted to open the door to the outside world in fear I would lose my guide in teaching the kids the right ways and never wanted them to be tainted with what others said or did, so not only did I shelter myself I sheltered them, however they grew up to become productive adults. Today I don't know where to begin to open up or how to do it other than here, to teach and learn for myself all over is a scary thought but I have to do this for me...any suggestions anyone?..
